Maybe you just need to fill them with epoxy or fiberglass resin. I would coat the inside before doing this with aluminum foil or something. just a thought.

I was actually thinking of doing this also, maybe a couple of coats under the carpet to deaden the sound of the glass packs. :)

Sorry to get you off the subject, but my father used to freeze the bondo before he used it. It seemed to give him about 30 extra seconds to play with it before it got hard and unworkable.

What is the best way to restore the black painted parts of the trim around the car.
Like hub caps, headlight rings and emblems ?
I am assuming that if I just paint the stainless it will not stick.
