    Foging an engine

When I had my old wooden cabin cruiser with a 340 Chrysler Marine engine the service manual recommended that you pour oil in the carb slowly until it stalls .In spring you take the valve covers off and tap each valve to make sure they arent stuck so you don't bend a push rod when you first...

    273 new to me question

That tag indicates that it is a replacement short block from the factory.I had two of those in crates I sold on here about 5 years ago. So it seems you possibly have a virgin replacement bottom end that hasn't been messed with by anyone

    273 new to me question

The 65 heads have 57cc chambers where the 69 have something like 63 so the 65 heads with a 64-65 manifold will give you slightly more compression . if you find the domed 2 valve relief pistons in there you can end up with a real sweet motor with all the other commando 273 stuff on top.

Modifying Truck Mounts to Fit ‘65 Valiant

You'd probably have to cut them and change the angle of the bottom to mate with the K you are using then there will also be the height of the motor as it sits in the K to consider .It would be easier to get the correct parts

I used the Bill Hirsh stuff on a few I have done over the years. I'd avoid using rattle can crap and clear coat as well. The Hirsh stuff is a high quality engine enamel and you can add hardner to it like any other acrylic enamel . It will give you long life with the hardner and it will also...

Can painted carb mounting surface cause a vacuum leak?

Yes the gas will eat the paint after a time and you will get a leak. I used to coat 2 stroke motorcycle head gaskets with high temp paint and it worked great until they started with the ethanol .once that crap was put into gas that old school trick no longer was an option. I would think the same...

I'd pull it and give it new bearings ,an oil pump , freeze out plugs ,and gaskets with a new rear main seal .At this point it's just parts replacement not engine rebuilding Replacing will cost a few hundred rebuilding will cost a couple thousand or more.
