    Sway Bar yes or no

As long as it's not a dedicated drag car, I'd add the sway bar!

    Torsion Bars

26" tires on the front of an early A are a tight fit. I'd recommend something a little shorter in the front. 24"-25" is about as much as I'd do, but I generally do run my car lower than stock. My clearance issue tended to be the tire catching the lower front edge of the fender.

Problem Solved: Hellwig Sway Bar on an Early A....problem

I've got one on my '64 dart at home. I'll try and get pictures up after I get to the house.

Ride quality even worse than expected. Advice welcome.

Suspension travel is very important on a street setup. I originally had my car slammed, the more I drove it the more I lifted back up.

Best $24 I've spend on my suspension - lowering blocks installed! Can it go lower?

Watch your pinion angle. I got my dart too low at one point and the vibration was bad! I ended up lifting it back up some.

Early A vs Mid A-65 Dart vs 69 Valiant

I'm a die-hard early A guy, but it's gonna be WAY easier with the Valiant! More engine bay room and better aftermarket support. Putting a LA in my '64 Dart wasn't fun no room for exhaust with power steering, clutch linkage and big sway bars!

    torque steer

Torque steer is a phenomenon found in higher powered fwd vehicles! What you're experiencing definitely sounds like a chassis/suspension problem.

Torsion bars for better handling; your experience?

The Hellwig bars are awesome! I run the big one up front and the adjustable one out back in my '64 dart. Combined with all the other suspension mods and good rubber, it handles great! My only complaint is that it's under-sprung. I shouldve went with bigger Tbars and 6leafs in the back instead of...

Torsion bars for better handling; your experience?

I thought my 1.03" bars were perfect, until I pulled the 170cuin slant six and aluminum trans for my 360 and iron 4spd. Now I wish I'd went bigger! :(

    Early A manual steering

I bought a 16:1 ratio steering box from PST that's listed for the '67+ Abodys. Bolted right in to my '64 dart. No mods necessary.

    Flaming River Manual Steering Box

Hey James, what about is early Abody guys?! I'm in the market for a quick ratio manual steering box for my '64 dart, but it's looking like they're only being sold for '67+ Abodies. :(

Lares 16 to 1 manual box?

Will these work on an early Abody, '63-'66?!

    Who's using a 16:1 manual steering box?

The box in my '64 dart is wore slap out, and I'm planning on a new box very soon. It currently has a 20:1 box, but I'd like the steering to be a little bit quicker. I've replaced 100% of the suspension and steering except the box. The suspension setup is performance oriented with polybushings...

    PST swaybars?!

Those Hellwig bars look nice, but are $40 more a piece than the PST bars, plus PST will give me 10% off! It'll save me near $120.

    PST swaybars?!

Anybody here running them?! How is the fitment? Looking to put sway bars front and rear on my '64 Dart, but want some that actually fit! I still have the Addco bar I ordered for my '70 Swinger that didn't come close to fitting right!

    pst 1" torsion bars

I'm running them in my '64. No complaints. Good ride and plenty of adjustability for me! I also went with two inch drop spindles so I could be lower and still maintain plenty of suspension travel. The car feels much more like a modern car now. Once I adds sway bars front and rear, I imagine...

Cuda sits to high after PST Torsion bar install

The op is simply trying to cram the wrong size wheel and tire combo with the wrong backspacing under a car with essentially a stock suspension. It's just not gonna work. When your talking about such an aggressive fitment you can't just shoot from the hip. Lots of time needs to be spent doing...

Cuda sits to high after PST Torsion bar install

The stock torsion bars are capable of lowering our cars! How are PSTs not?!
  23. V

Cuda sits to high after PST Torsion bar install

The problem isn't the torsion bars! The problem is that your wheel tire combo is 3" taller than the car was designed for! By running the right diameter tire, your car would be 1.5" lower than it's sitting right now! By the time you hack up the fenders and adjust the Tbars enough to get it where...

Just installed new PST 1.03 bars

Well the 17x8s fit under the back with room to spare! Looks like I'll be able to go down another inch in the back!

Just installed new PST 1.03 bars

Thanks Dave! What started out as a blown wheel cylinder on my daily driver has snowballed into a complete suspension and brake overhaul! Every piece on the suspension has been replaced or rebuilt! The rear suspension got new 2" drop leafs from Espo, adjustable front perches and new rear hangers...

Just installed new PST 1.03 bars

Previously everything was bone stock as far as suspension and brakes go, with the exception of the torsion bars being cranked down until they were within a quarter of an inch from the bump stops. So I decided I wanted to keep my dart as low as possible with a static drop, and still maintain...
