    Fork Rod Grinding On Starter

Not had time to get good pictures, but here is one from the top down. The z bar kind of blends in with the background, but if you zoom in you can get an idea of how a "modified" z bar fits between the starter and headers.

    Fork Rod Grinding On Starter

Although it wasn't bad enough to cause the pedal not to return, I had a similar issue, but it did slow its return down. When I installed my Dougs headers, I modified my own z bar and just assumed I got a measurement wrong (As dano mentioned, it's a tight fit regardless). I bent the arm a bit...

    4/speed issue

I had this issue with two "rebuilt" transmissions. Turns out the synchronizer drums in both transmissions where cracked/ broke. I never got to dissemble either of these transmissions in their locked up state to see what exactly what was occurring, my assumption was that the synchronizer ring...

Center force pressure plate - is it noisy with the weights?

I have never heard mine as well. I would think centrifugal force would pin them against the retainer ring/ spring thingy to the point that they couldnt rattle. That said I have a Holley red pump that can be heard a mile away, if the clutch is making noise it's not loud enough to be heard over...

A-833 OD gets stuck in second while driving

I had this issue with two A833's both OD units. I ended up taking them apart to find broken synchronizer drums. Also One had bearing issues on the counter shaft and the other had bearings that were toast where the input shaft and main shaft meet. Both were used when I got them, although one...

Ditto. I had 2 transmissions in a row with this exact problem.

    4speed OD

Just bell housing. The shifter and rods will work.

    4speed OD

They are basically the same transmission externally. The 3/4 gear lever is flipped upside down (reversing the operation). 4th gear becomes 3rd (direct drive)and 3rd becomes the OD gear. Edit: Forgot to say that the OD transmissions have a larger input bearing retainer. I think it was 5.25...

I went back and looked at my receipts. Looks like I ordered a new slip yoke from brewers performance.

    More 3speed to 833 conversion??

I did this swap as well as going from a \6 to a V8 and swapping the 7 1/4 out for an 8 3/4. Its been a while since i did this swap, I'm sure I'm forgetting allot of the details. If i remember right the output shaft between the 3 speed and 4 speed are different. As far as getting it in the...

What is the right Z Bar?

I had a similar issue. The pedal never wanted to return up all the way and the car shifted like crap. It basically acted like the clutch never wanted to release all of the way. Cause cheap Chinese made pressure plate bought from Checker now Oriley. Solution Centerforce clutch (don't know...

    What causes this?

I am 100% sure it was not that way when I installed it. Is it possible that i was over extending this clutch? As i said before i always had to put the pedal to the floor to get it to disengage. At one point in time for the heck of it I adjusted the throwout bearing to 0 play. I drove it...

    What causes this?

When I installed this I made sure I torqued the bolts int he correct sequence and to the right torque. I'm getting ready to install a new diaphragm style clutch ,and wanted to make sure that there wasn't something that I was missing that would cause this. It isn't exactly a high quality...

    What causes this?

What would cause these grooves on only 2 of the 3 fingers on the pressure plate? The throwout bearing looks fine.

    Is this shifter handle correct?

Don't know how I missed this but I think I found the problem. The # on the reverse lever is 2336 (64-5 a body.)

    Is this shifter handle correct?

My handle doesn't slide in like the one in your picture. Everything (brackets, trans, shifter, linkages.) but the shifter handle itself is from Brewers. Let me get the PN off of the Shifter assembly to you guys tonight I have a felling that's where my problem is. ](*,)

    Is this shifter handle correct?

sireland67 That is the exact bracket I have I'm getting ready to do a clutch upgrade. Ill snap some more pictures of the shifter mechanism tomorrow night. Do you think that I have the wrong shifter mechanism? The # on the shifter is 7926.

    Is this shifter handle correct?

Is this right? I'm not sure if I have the correct shifter? The linkages are adjusted correctly. If i don't watch it when I shift into 1st or 3rd my knuckles hit the dash. (please ignore my orange test dash) The first picture is 2nd gear The second picture is 3rd gear The last picture is in...

    Stuck in gear

I had this problem only 10 times worse. It ended up being my syncros going out. My problem was 2nd and 3rd gear getting stuck. Id have to nurse it home and use a hammer and a punch to get it out of gear.

    833OD rebuild Qs

Get the keys as they were what started this whole mess. Check the part # for the bearing and seal kit. I'm pretty sure there is a different transmissions in the later trucks than and the a 833 OD.

    833OD rebuild Qs

You can pull the cover off with the trans in the car but you will hate life reinstalling it. I would plan on ordering all new synchronizers and bearings. Check the bearings between the input shaft and the output shaft/ the one with all the gears on it.Watch out they will go every where when you...

    Z bar

I have decided i might have made a rookie mistake. I used the slant 6. 3 speed z bar on my now 318 4 speed set up. All the bushings are new. Every thing bolted up and the clutch works pretty good (Doesn't feel right some tines when i push it in). However it is adjusted all the way out and the...

    a 833 od shifting issues

Well ive made headway. I filled it with a synthetic oil and away went my 1st and 2nd issues. I still am having problems with it wanting to stick into 2 gears at once. i have played with all the adjustments, and am finding that there is a 2 inch area front to back where the shifter thinks it...
