    pushrod length?

I'm trying to determine if I have the correct length pushrod. The intake is closed and the exhaust is just starting to open. The pushrod just barely spins. There is no up and down movement. Does this sound like it's the correct length?

I'm chasing down an engine tick and I want to see if oiling holes in my roller lifters were installed the wrong direction. They're pedestal mount stamped 1.6 rockers. What are the steps for re-installing the rockers?

    engine noise

https://youtu.be/XNqNt-FZv3M I just installed a 5.9 Magnum that I had rebuilt. As you can hear in the video I have a ticking noise that does not sound right. I hear the noise the loudest on the passenger side of the car towards the center of the valve cover around #4 and #6. It also...

    Is my motor crooked?

I'm in the process of doing a LA 318 to a 5.9 Magnum swap. I feel like the motor looks a little crooked. Everything lines up though, the engine is bolted to the trans and the bolts on the motor mounts are sitting in the spool on the k frame. I've been staring at this so long that I think it's...

    motor update and video

I need some advice on a couple of issues I’m having with my engine idle and timing. I have no idea what I’m doing. This is my first project and I’m learning as I go. I’m just getting my car back together after an engine swap. I’ve installed a used motor with a...

    Intake install help- pic

I’m putting an Edelbrock Performer intake on my 318. I read that I shouldn’t use a metal type gasket with an aluminum intake. All the performance gaskets that I’ve seen don’t have the center port cut out of them. Why is that? Do I need to cut the port out? See in the picture below that the stock...

    Priming the oil pump

I’m trying to prime the oil pump on my 318. When I spin the oil pump with my drill where should I see oil at? I’m not seeing any oil coming up into the heads. I know that oil is flowing because I didn’t have the oil pressure sensor in, and oil came out of that hole. Thanks, Kris

Motor that has been sitting 15 years

I found out last week that my 318 had a bad piston. Instead of rebuilding the motor, I took a chance and bought a used motor off of Craigslist. It’s a rebuilt 318 with about 5,000 miles on it. The problem is the motor has been sitting for about 15 years. The motor came out of a truck so I have...

    318 truck motor

What do I need to change on a 318 truck motor- to replace the 318 I have in my Dart? Obviously, the motor mounts are different, and the oil pan looks like it’s deeper on the truck engine. Thanks, Kris I found out that I have a bad clyinder and I found an LA 318 out of a truck to replace my motor.

    what are these?

I pulled my valve cover to check the casting # of the heads I have on my engine. I found the pieces below lying in the head. What are they from? The car does smoke at start up from this side of the motor. Thanks, Kris

Exhaust stud removal help.. see pic

I need to preface this story with “I’m a total rookie when it comes to working on cars.” I put headers on my Dart and the drivers side rear was leaking real bad. I lived with it for a couple of weeks, but I couldn’t stand the noise any longer so I decided to fix it today. When I pulled the...

    vacuum hose removal

Hello, I’m putting my car back together after painting the motor and engine compartment and I want to get away from using the vacuum amplifier that came stock on the car. Many of the hoses weren’t hooked up, or were going to the wrong location according to the diagrams in my Haynes manual. I...
