I'm using stock 273 rockers. 410 stroker. 596 heads. Going roller rockers and thinking more bang for my buck !?? But....... Besides piston to valve clearance is there any other things that should be considered ? Thank you ...
That was a great read on the subject, and thank you for your experience. And everyone else who chimed in, thank you.....the thing is I just don't want to spend another 5 $600 + to create more problems for not a lot of return as opposed to just getting a bigger cam. So I'm going to keep scratching my head and trying to think about it.http://www.hughesengines.com/TechArticles/16pushrodtoheadclearance.php
short memo on pushrod clearance.....
Got 4 engines running with 1.6 rockers....did not clearance any of them....all with eddy heads plus one engine use 3/8 diameter pushrods while the other 3 use 5/16
Hi, i bought a set of 1.6 Rockers for my 408 last winter, got the mancini brand rockers (Harland Sharp bodys without needle bearings). They work great, engine is significantly stronger, went from 11.98 to 11.61 without other modifications - believe it or not. Of course, this tells me that the engine want´s more cam, but Bang for the buck was great.

Shoulda got a Magnum. 1.6 is stock.![]()
I have a magnum motor in my Durango. I don't want a magnum motor in my race car. And also I don't like the Chevy style Rockers that are on the magnums.
hughes makes shaft rockers for magnum heads...........
