I'm in the process of buying a 318 from a guy I know and he says its got the 302 heads but the bearings and rings are fried he wants 100 bucks. Is it worth it?

He said its the stock swirl port 302 casting heads on a stock bore 318 the ring lands are pretty much fried. I hear 302 heads are the best for low budget power if ported

If in the right hands,Yes Wild ,n'Crazy rocks here.Send him a p.m. The guy ,is passionate about airflow.

Thanks :) I've never done port jobs before and I here it's expensive work. I haven't decided on the route I wanna go with this engine. It's gunna be street/strip I just dunno if she's gunna be bottle fed or turboed. Leaning more on the nitrous side

Thjs could get expensive quick. Wild and Crazy, has a porting thread in small block forums.Read that first. 2nd,don't assume anything, until a honest teardown and inspection . Time and patience,(learning!),will save you major bucks.

Indeed as this will be my very first engine rebuild. I'm quite nervous about it. As I've never changed internals before

Worth checking out for sure. Get the heads fluxed before hand to be sure you have a solid set to work with. But yes, if they check out the heads alone are worth a bill.

I will do a compression and flex test beforehand. But he said it only needs a re ring kit. But if I'm in there I might as well do it right the first time
