Good day everyone. I need some quick answers. I just un- mothballed my 68 Dart 2- door sedan. My storage was partially pirated with my notes and some parts. I have a 73-76 k-frame with the factory sway bar. I have the brake power booster, disc brake spindles, and the upper and lower control arms. I have 78 Cordoba slider-caliper brackets and some good used rotors. I don't remember of the calipers were originally mounted to the front or rear. I need to purchase a 78 Cordoba master cylinder and calipers. The problem I have is do I purchase the rear or front mount calipers? And with the answer to that question. Which brake hoses go with which option? I know I need to find or buy another factory prop valve. I'll make some new hard lines to go from the prop valve to the master cylinder. I also have a 8 1/4 a-body rear to go in it with some police rallys to finish things. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the calipers will be rear mounted with a sway bar, but I could be wrong. You can check the doctordiff website... You can actually switch the spindles side to side (not the lower ball joint) to change front/rear position. There is no front/rear mount caliper, just buy the correct cordoba slider parts and they will bolt up either way you face the spindles/brackets. As far as a prop valve, if it was me and I was bending lines anyway I'd get a aftermarket dist block with built in adjustable prop valve to dial in the brake balance instead of a factory part.

Thanks for the info. I just recently started taking pictures of everything I take apart. I wish that I would have done it back when I was collecting parts.

Thanks.

Your 68 had rear mounted calipers, and if you have (or plan to have) a sway bar you'll need to rear mount the new calipers. As said above the spindles and calipers can be switched from side to side to front or rear mount the calipers. So, as long as you have one of each caliper you should be OK. Just mount them so the bleed nipple is at the top. Avoid the small piston 73-75 A-body calipers, the Cordoba parts will have the larger pistons.

As far as master cylinders go, you can use pretty much any 68-up disk brake master. A larger piston bore will mean less pedal travel and a firmer pedal. A 15/16" bore is most common, and where I'd start especially with manual brakes. You won't really be able to set front/rear bias until you get the car up and running. Adjustable proportioning valves work good for fine tuning, but increasing or decreasing the size of the rear wheel cylinders has a greater effect.

If you're running the 73 k frame, spindles, sway bar and lower control arms you can mount the calipers to the front with no issues. What diameter wheels are you running? If they are less than 15" the 11.75" probably will not work. I'm running them on my 71 Demon and they are close to the wheel with 15" diameter. I also was able to find the calipers on sale at Rockauto. One was 13$ the other was 16$ for Wagners with no core but that was a while ago.

Thank you for all the info. I probably would have been fine if my Haynes repair guides hadn't been stolen. I've read about binding issues. Will the stock 76 Dart disc brake hoses be fine in a front mount application or are the binding issues for when the calipers are rear mounted?

Thanks again.
