14 inch vs 15 inch ??

im about to sell my torq trush wheels 15x7 and 15x8 to buy magnum 500s , i have a set of 14 inch and i found that the 15 inch one are expensive on the market , so i was wondering what if i buy tires and install them on the cuda like factory ?

never drove a muscle car with something less than 15 inch wheels , and plus i have headers , wouldnt it be too low ? And how does it ride ?

my roadrunner gtx was with 14 magnum 500s from factory too , i read that with b-bodies it was too smal , but what about A and E bodies ?

The car shouldn't sit any lower if you buy the right tires. Ie, tires with a larger profile. For example if you have a 205/65/15 on there now you would buy a 205/70/14 and the tire height would basically be the same, the car wouldn't sit any lower the sidewall would just be taller.

As for the ride, it will be about the same. There will be more sidewall flex than with the 15's, but if you're worried about that you wouldn't be running 15's either.

There are very few tire sizes available for 14" rims, so I would make sure that you can find the tires and sizes that you want to run before you do it. There are even fewer options than for 15's, which is to say almost none.

I don't like the looks of 14s on anything myself. They can look acceptable on A bodies but never on B and E bodies. Having said that, I have run 14s on my B bodies due to lack of funds. http://www.wheelvintiques.com/84-series-magnum-500-road-wheel.html

I see 15 in chrome Magnum 500s are running about $165 plus shipping from Specialty wheel. :banghead: I would sure like to have a set to replace the 14 inch ones I have now that I can't use on my wagon - 14 inchers won't clear the disc brake conversion on my 8.75

That's a good point too. Not an issue with the stock brakes, but if you've got an aftermarket kit you should make sure they'll clear a 14" rim. Not all of them do.

Well, I spoke too soon and assumed it wouldn't fit! So I took a closer look at the 14x7 Magnum's I have and it appears the rear of the rim goes straight back to where it bolts to the axle flange. I thought it ought to clear the caliper and adapter and sure enough it clears by about 1/2 inch or so. I'm using the conversion from Dodgedifferent2 which uses the smaller Mustang rear disc brakes http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=128394
