I am mini tubing my 71 dart and moving the springs in 3". WITHOUT narrowing the rear end will a 15x10 with 7.5" BS fit?? I am wanting to run 325/50/15 MT et's. let me know what everyone thinks

if you can show some pics with that set up. thanks

I'm running 15 x 12 with 7" back space and a 15.50 tire on my cuda which is about the same, and if I could have found them, I could of went with either a 14" wide wheel or 9" of backspace.

You can go with a wider wheel though. Here are 15x11.25" wheels with 28x12.50's on them. The wider wheel puts a better foot print on the ground with any given tire pressure. It's a big trick the drag radial guys use but it works with any style tire.

I went with 15 X 10 with 7.25 of backspace because of a 1/4 inch rotor. So 7.5 should be good with stock drum brakes. 295/50/15
debating on putting a 28 inch tall tire under there and massaging the fenders.
Cant find the picture i was thinking of when i read this thread. But it was the dart parked when all assembled at work.

you could do it like roccodart440's purple dart....them deep wheels on the back look awesome!

spring relocation, mini tub, 10X15 wheels, 7 1/2" backspace, 325/50/15 drag radials.

Also stock A Body length 8 3/4, Drum brakes with Moser axles.

Their is about 1/2" clearance between the outside tire and stock length wheel lip, and the same for the inside tire to spring

Move the rear back 1.5" and they will fit without modding the quarter. See my purple car.

Thanks, you need to have the rear narrowed to the max to accomplish that. You also need to use a different axle bearing like a torrino style bearing.

The problem with moving the rear back would make me have to do another drives haft and change the advantage of the S's springs

It MAY necessitate having your DS modded but it will not negate your SS springs. They will work exactly the same as they do now.

I said move the rear back. To do this you do not change the location of the axle on the spring (this is that SS spring advantage) You move the whole spring back.

Silver car has the quarter modded. Purple is just moved back.

When I did mine I moved the rear back .75", no change to the drive shaft
Check the clearance of your drive shaft, most times you can go back 1" with no worries since the spline on a 727 is about 2-2.5" long
I'm currently running a 28x13.5 tire with clearance still left over. When I replace my tires again I'm considering go to a 29" tall tire

Whats your opinion of the traction with those tires ?

I have them on the front of my car, but I used the Nitto 555 radials on the back. The Nitto's wouldn't hook last year when I had about 250HP so I can't imagine whats going to happen this year with my new motor putting out double that.
I was going to just go with the MT Drag radials but would like to have the matching tread pattern as I will be showing the car as well.

Same here. The 28's are over revving me through the traps.

They look good but don't hook like the MT drag radial.

x2 on MT's. I have run sportsman pros on both of my cars and they work flawlessly on and off the track. Safe in the rain. They are a drag slick compound with full tread and a wrinkle wall design. I wouldn't consider anything else on a street/strip car. I run 25 psi on the street and 19 psi at the strip.

I'm not a fan of the sportsman pro's, they just look tacky. I like the ET Street Radials

I have to ask, what is tacky about them other than the compound, lol
