1966 "mid engine" VW

Got the body dropped on my buddy's bug project.

It's got a Subaru STI engine and trans.

This is the third subi engine in this bug. He has tried of destroying VW transmissions so we flipped the engine around, rebuilt the chassis and added a six speed Subaru trans axle with the tail shaft removed.

Hopefully it should run in the 9s while still destroying the auto cross.

Pined and filled block, nitrous and lots of boost..

Sweet! I have a sand rail with a GM Quad 4 HO in it mated to a built swingaxle tranny. You gotta keep in mind that they were originally designed to handle 40hp!!!

That is cool! I know absolutely nothing about Subaru's.....so is that like an engine from a WRX?

It's a bigger turbo but the case is the same as a WRX.
