Hey guys, I have been looking for a small winter "inside" project to do on the Dart to pass some winter time and keep rolling on the Dart. I am thinking about fixing up my console. Paint is faded and needs the carpet replaced. Anybody have any good pictures of theirs I could go off of? Also any idea on the top console color? Thanks!

Some ideas:

Here are new carpet inserts:

Or, if you carpet is in good shape, but faded it can be redied. Other companies carry carpet kits for consoles, you have to look around.

This what a new console top looks like:

Chrome raised edge, argent top with black center stripe. I plan on refurbishing my console this winter by painting argent with same paint I had applied to my Realy Wheels, and hand paint black stripe.

My car has black interior, so matching color is easy. The vinyl on exterior of my console was nicked up a bit, so I just sprayed it with plastic paint.

To remove console:
Before pulling console, remove shifter knob. Automatic knob is held in place with an allen screw, back it off a few turns, and the knob will screw off.

There are four screws holding it console to floor: two in storage compartment floor; and two horizontal on each side passing through, or just under side carpet near its forward terminus.

Look at the console in this photo below. Sliver dot in the forward console carpet is head of one of the attaching screws.

People are probably getting tired of seeing my console pictures. Just trying to help where I can. Nothing fancy.

No problem. Top of my console is wood grain as you can see. I bought an overlay that I'm going to put on ,have to do some patching first. If your going to paint yours keep it neutral. There are some guys on here that have done some really nice stuff with stainless.

a correct 67 console top should be argent silver and the groove and sides chrome.

I had mine chromed and liked the look and after spending the money didn't want to paint over the chrome, so I get blinded with top down and sun up at times

the woodgrain for a 69 will work if you cut the center line out

Thanks guys... Does anyone have a source for the correct argent paint? I know they make it for wheels?

Not interested in powder coat.... just looking for some original match in spray bomb.
