1967 Dart GT Project

Hey all, been lurking for a bit and thought I would share a bit of my project. A few months ago I bought a 1967 Dart Gt and have been making steady progress. Car is a roller now originally from California. Was a slant car, red, with black buckets and floor shift. Picked up a used 440/727 for it. Nothing special 1975 HP 440. Working on going through the heads then going to clean it up and drop it in. Basically just going to get it running and driveable and then start adding more performance. Car was media blasted and primed by the previous owner. Car will be going back to original red, with black interior. Body man by trade so working on that right now also. Time for some updates! Been too long! Here is a pair of dog dish rims I picked up on the cheap. Also Pulled the K-member out to clean and paint it up. Pulled the drums off.

Here I pulled the old 7 1/4 rear... cleaned off all of the undercoating in the wheel wells, and rails, pulled the gas tank, painted with some Eastwood rust encapsulator, then with the chassis black paint. Added new springs from Springs n things (very nice to deal with). I put the 6 leafs in it with the 5/8 bolt hole front bushing, new hangers and such. Also had to weld new tube in the rear hangers as they were rusted out.... 3/4 inch black pipe cut in miter saw and then welded in works great. Then added my 8 1/4 rear. Yup its a one wheel wonder and I am putting it behind a tired 440 haha... lets see how long it lasts! I'm poor what can I say!

Here is my big block 727 that I rebuilt.. almost done. New seals and such, new bushings, clutches.... and so on. Thanks to CRT for the parts they were also great to deal with. Trans is almost done have to go through the valve body. Fixed up the trans pan... yea I know buy a new one! It looked like someone ran it over with a tank so not too bad considering!

Here is the engine bay... going to blast and paint that in the next week or so. Going with the original color PP1. Also it is a 67 GT and previous owner welded all upper trim holes shut so I have been slowly remarking them and redrilling them.

And finally been working a TON of hours lately and it's getting old! So after some searching I found a set of disc brakes down in Chicago... and instead of going to work a friend of mine took a road trip! Picked up the brakes and then talked about lunch... Should we get a Chicago dog? Or some Chicago deep dish? Awww screw it! Lets get both! So we went to the famous Superdawg

Sat outside and had a cold drink, ate some pizza with a good friend and enjoyed the 90* weather.

Finally got some more work done on the car. Work has been taking up all of my time. I got the engine bay blasted a few weeks ago, sprayed some epoxy on it as I had a few small dents and such to fix. Today I finished the filler work on the dents and sanded the engine bay, the sprayed another coat of epoxy then my filler primer.

Here are a few updates. The fender wells and suspension mounts were painted by previous owner. For some reason it was on very thick and peeling badly. After several hours of sandblasting I got it cleaned up good. I didn't take many "before" shots but there is one.. Sorry I was in a rush. After that I sprayed some epoxy primer on the support, fender wells, and then coated with my chassis paint I have been using on the rest of the car. Next up is paint engine bay!

Thanks for all the comments. It's coming along slowly! As far as the Chrysler job I ended up not taking it. They wouldn't be straight about whether or not this was a long term job or temporary. It made me a bit worried so I backed out. This was assembling cars at the factory. When I went through the training and orientation day they said they had hired 500 people at the one plant alone already and needed 80 more. They also mentioned the fact that they didn't have enough applicants!

Engine bay is almost ready for paint! I was going to do a nice red as the original color is PP1 red, but after thinking it over I couldn't find a red I was interested in. I have always liked dark green's like F8 or a forest green of some sort. Here are a few spray out's I did with some colors I had laying around. The light color is F8 green, the darker is a 1998 Nissan green. Personally I like the F8... any opinions?

Here I am taking a little time to clean up the garage and get it a little more prepared to paint in.... still a dust trap.. oh how I miss access to a downdraft booth.... ale:
