Hello,

Did the 67 Dart that came with a 383 come badged as a GSS or GTS? I thought the GTS label did not start until 1968 for the Dart

1967 Dodge Dart GTS 383

'67 GTS came out mid '67 model year from the factory. Only GTS emblems were on the fenders. Door panels ,grille emblem, and trunk finish panel said "GT". VIN also said "LP", same as GT Dart, except it had an "H" as the engine (5th digit - 383ci.) code.

I'll let others share the story of the Mr. Norm's GSS cars.

Google "1967 Dart GTS" in Images for lots of pictures of them.

Yep 65Val nailed it. Started around April but not many dealers advertised the package until the 1968 production year. The GSS was only for 1968 where Dodge ordered 48 383 GTSs to be converted to 440 GSS cars for Grand Spaulding Dodge. The 1968 440 GTS/GSS cars were all true "M" codes too! They were shipped to Hurst without engine. At Hurst, the 440 was dropped in, the battery was located in the trunk, and the car "finished" before being shipped to the corner of Grand and Spaulding in Chicago

Close, there were actually 51 built and Mr. Norm ordered them, not Dodge. The batteries were not moved to the trunk also and used 67 383 exhaust manifolds. Here are a couple of factory documents on them...
