Different show.

Hey, I thought MIM was supposed to be around 1968.

One episode had his dad trade in their '68 Polara wagon...

...on a '68 ford galaxie.

For @Chrisdriver94

I hope you see this post. If you want to see this car and meet the owner you can do both at the Gallia-Meigs Regional Airport on August 23rd, 2025. There's a car show/fly in there that day. Check out their facebook event listing. Click on the "Discussion" link and scroll down. Enjoy!

He made it! You guys did an awesome job making a dream come true. Great community.

Well guys, i made it! After 9 years and a lot of research i did it. I found the Hero Car Barracuda from Highwaymen! I honestly thought that day will never come, i already gave up after a couple of years and didn't really thought about this car that much anymore but at the end i found it and the current owner! I flew 14 hours from Germany to Ohio to end what i started 9 years ago. I just wanted to see this car and make enough pictures to built my own replica but the owner actually let me drove my dream car and i really can't thank him enough for this experience!!! I made a lot of new friends and i am very good friends with the owner and his family who were really nice to me and supported me were ever they could. From now on i try to come over to Ohio for the Fly in Car Show every year to help out and organize the Show. I would like to thank all of you guys who supported and help me looking for this very car. Dreams can come true!.

To clear some stuff up it was wrong about...
- They had 3 Barracuda's for the Movie, 1 Hero car, 2 stunt cars.
- The Rollover Barracuda which was empty was a Slant 6 car not a 318.
- The Hero car Barracuda was not a Formula S. It was also from the factory a 318 car which was built from Cinema Vehicle Services for the movie with a 340 engine.

Reclearing stuff....
They had 4 Cars (i was right the first time...) 1 Hero car, 1 Backup Hero car which was destroyed in the demo derby scene in Herbie - Fully Loaded, and 2 stunt cars.

Did it have the hemi hockey stripe and 426 on the scoop in the movie or was that added later on? Cool story on finding the car. Cooler it was also in Malcom in the Middle. That was coming on just as I was outgrowing that era of tv but cool nonetheless.

Yes, the Barracuda was built like that for the movie Highwaymen. After the production the car was send back from the movie set in Toronto to CVS in north Hollywood where it was up for rent for other productions. That's why it showed up in Malcolm, Criminal minds and supposably in a PBS documentary (which i couldn't find yet).
The hood was custom built by CVS, its a straight metal hood with the fiberglass scoop. The hemi hockey stripe is also custom made for the car.
