1968 PLYMOUTH VALIANT 100- Keanu Reeves Car
For sale is a 1968 Plymouth Valiant 100 V8 that I bought in 1999 from Keanu Reeves' fiancé (Jennifer Syme) in North Hollywood (documentation will be provided if wanted). The car is a third owner car and came stock with a Slant Six. The body was straight and the car was rust free except for the front floor pans. I bought the car, painted it and drove it daily until 2002 when I began building it for a street/strip car. In 2004, I began using it as my daily driver again with all the upgrades. The following is what I did to the car (All mechanical work was done primarily by me).
Body: The car was disassembled almost entirely for painting. The car was painted by my friend Alfredo at Alfredo's Auto Body in La Mirada CA. This included new floor pans and paint. He also pulled off side body trim and welded in holes. The bumpers were taken into the Bumper Shop in South Central LA for straightening and chroming.
Suspension/Brakes: The car's original upper and lower control arms (drums) were replaced with 1970 small bolt pattern disc brakes package. The front suspension bushings were replaced with Energy Suspension bushings. In order to accommodate the front police wheels, adaptors were bought for the car. The front discs are practically brand new and the pads are also new. The Rear leaf springs are 318 A body leafs and the bushings are also Energy Suspension. The rear end has the 11 by 2 ½ drum brakes off a 71 Fury-bi bolt pattern. The drums/shoes are new and all with new hardware and hoses. The car was aligned by Anderson's Allignment in Garden Grove.
Wheels: 4 Police Wheels 15X7 with BF Goodrich HT Tires in good condition.
Rear End: The rear is an 8 ¾ rear end from a 69 Dart 4 Dr. It was pulled at Admore Dismantling in Stanton (No longer there since Pick a Part bought lot). The rear end was sanded by hand, primered and painted black. The axles are from Yukon Axles (Heavy Duty) and have the big bolt pattern with new green non adjustment bearings from Bob Mazollini Racing. It has heavy duty studs and nice new lug nuts. I put 3.55 gears that I checked and appeared to be in near perfect condition. The gears came off a 100 Van (No posi or spools).
Electrical: The car has been converted to electronic ignition and the car's ammeter has been bypassed for better current/voltage regulation. It has a new battery and most of the parts are new (relay switch, ballast resistor, voltage regulator, coil, alternator, battery and starter). The starter is a mini starter from mopar performance that was running on a Dakota RT.
Motor: The motor is a 318 that I pulled from a 1974 Dart. I had it bored .30 over and with new internal parts and reconditioned/rebuilt heads. The only performance upgrades I did to it were: 318-360 Edelbrock Performance Intake, new Carter Performance Carburetor (linkage from a 340 4 barrel dart), and Hooker Performance Headers with H Pipe from Orange Muffler. This was to be a temporary engine as I was building 360 race motor (was sold later). The transmission was built by Hernandez Transmission in Montebello and has a street/race type kit. The car has new tranny lines and new torque converter. The tranny drive shaft was cut to fit 8 ¾ rear end and has heavy duty universal joints. The engine and tranny are cooled by a new radiator from Auto Zone for a 74 Dart Sport application.
Interior: The interior is in great shape except for seats. The original front seats were taken out of the car and 74 valiant front seats was put in. This has the arm rest in the middle. The seats are in excellent condition but are yellow/white color. I bought seat covers for front and rear. The door panels are all in excellent shape and I put in a carpet from the Paddock in 2005. The instrumental panel and dash is unmolested and looks good. I put in a CD Alpine Radio in 2005 and in 2010 I bought an Apple Ipod connection from Alpine. The car also has two 6X9 Clarion speakers and two polk up front. The entire car has new weather stripping and cat whiskers on the doors are new. New Weather stripping is on doors & trunk. I put in all stripping with heavy duty black weather stripping silicone glue-3M.
What it needs: Paint in the engine compartment (I have color code)(Not painted due to plans to drop in 360). If you are going to race it with a powerful 340 or 360, it will need a wildwood proportioning valve before the rear drums. The seats need black upholstery and there is no AC or Heater. Lastly, during strong winds this past January, a piece of sheet metal flew and scratched the car where you see the stickers on picture-no dents.
*If you buy the car it comes with many extra parts- hood, calipers, and misc nuts bolts and electrical parts.
Contact Ramirez to see and drive car or if more pics needed: It will go fast for 1st $8,000 OBO. Need to sell as my employment is vulnerable. http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/2406520221.html
