Saw this on Marketplace, 1970 340 short block. Steel crank, forged pistons, located in Southern Arizona. $800

Boy, do I wish I had some extra cash!

I’d say it’s reasonably priced. Till you get it checked at the machine shop you don’t know what you really have.

I know that it's a good deal without a doubt. I'm surprised that it's not sold already

Well did not turn out very well.
Engine had been in fact run actually and immediate
got hot probably destroying the rings.
Also spun the cam bearing circulating metal
throughout the engine. Probably ruined the
main and rod bearings at a very minimum.

Engine did not belong to the guy selling it =
He was selling it for a "Friend".

He has another one right next to it identical 340
030 TRW engine except for cast crank,
that also self destructed on the very first start.

All that Glitters in NOT GOLD!

EEESH. I hope you didn't waste too much time on that. Seemed like a decent deal from the limited info given so I thought I'd share, fortunately you're a knowledgeable man. Sorry about that.

Makes me wonder.... I was talking to an E-body guy a while back who said he had two 340s he wanted to sell, and he's not on social media. I hope he's not the "friend," because he seemed quite respectable.

Too good to be true but something you need to check out. You never know.

I'm old enough to know better, but when I see a deal like this, I'm a moth to a candle. My personal odds are about 30 busts to one questionable bargain. I always still look.
