thank you registry for the info. I agree with you 68383gts. I've got a 318 4 speed low trim dart tore down and mostly stripped in my shop that I was going to clone. after really looking at this one i'm giving serious thought to switching cars. the trunk and quartes r in rough shape, but the cowl looks good. its the real deal! just tough to pull a car out

Sounds like it would be a nice candidate to restore depending on condition, which doesn't sound too bad. But for $100, pretty hard to beat that deal! If you're not too deep in the 318 car, change may be a good thing. Either way, you got a bunch of 340 clone parts for free or you can use the tidbits from the 318 car. I think you're laughing!

Does that tag really go with that car?

The 4 speed pedals are worth the price of the car.

The car has 4 speed pedals and what looks to be a hump in it. I'd check the trunk lip for the vin numbers as well

the tag goes with the car. the fender and instrument panel match. the steering wheel and pedals didn't though. i'm going to check it out a lot better before I make any big decisions. what other places should I check?

Trunk rail lip pass side about where the stripe would pass over. The last 8 of the vin should be stamped there.

I would definitely fix the 340 car instead of the 318 car if all of the body numbers add up......

here is the vin on the dash. I still havn't found the vin on the trunk lip I posted a pic of where I think it is suppose to be. i'm still not sure if i'm looking at the right place. does anybody have a pic of a vin # on the trunk lip?

I'll give you $105 for it.

NICE score.

Maybe top 10 of all time.

oh i'm tickled pink (or mango orange). the guy I bought it from had it for quite some time. I think the only reason he sold it was because of his wife. talked to him a few times over about 2 months. told him I was looking for a 70 parts car and was looking for a ralley dash, bucket seats, etc. he told me he had one with all the stuff I was looking for in it. he said the body was pretty much gone, but the rest was in really good shape. talked to him 3 or 4 more times. everytime I talked to him the price went down. finally at 500 bucks I told him lets go get it. took about another month to go get it. it was my B-day so 200 of it was put together to throw in it. my dad wanted the sure grip so he threw in another 200. told my dad he could just take it (which for 200 he pretty much was!), but he wanted to pay something. so I ended up with two hundred in it. when we went to pck it up the guy said one of the front tires wouldn't move cause on of the calipers were locked! Really a caliper? :) after that, I decided to check it out a little more. turns out the body isn't in that bad of shape either.

I could not find a VIN stamped anywhere on the rear of my 70. For that matter, I could not find one on the front either. Ive been told the front fender covers it when assembled.

the vin on the front. you have to remove the passenger side fender. the vin is on the top of the inner fender. the one on the rear you may have to sand it to find it.

thanks vitamin c and davescuda. i'll check it again when I get home tonight. i'm hoping to get the center console up and pull the carpet to get a good look at the floor pans ( i'm crossing my fingers on that)

found the vin# on the trunk lip and all of them match. had to sand the trunk lip to see the number. i'm gonna start a rest thread on it sometime next week. i'll post a link to it here. this is gonna be my first resto so i'll need all the help I can get
