Would love to go the Brewers / Passon route, but I don't think have the budget. Just seeing what's out there - thanks.

Not for the faint of heart. I'm speaking from experience. I only did it because I'm doing a complete rotisserie restoration on my Duster. If I started with the car you have, I'd have never gone down this road.

The Brewers kit is pricey, but you'll spend almost as much trying to piece meal it together. This is not a budget friendly swap.

You'll need...
A-833 transmission (and possibly a rebuild kit)
Hurst shifter body (and possibly a rebuild kit)
Shifter to trans adapter plate, plus bolts
Shifter handle
Shifter handle knob
Shifter handle rubber boot
Floor to shifter handle boot bezel ring
Shift linkage rods, and accessories
Bell housing, complete with inspection cover
Bell housing ball stud
Clutch fork
Clutch fork return spring
Clutch fork boot
Clutch fork pivot inside bell housing
Clutch fork adjustment rod
Throw out bearing
Pressure plate
Clutch disc
Flywheel
Pilot bearing
Clutch pedal assembly
Clutch rod
Z bar
Z bar bushings
Frame ball stud
Frame ball stud support bracket
Firewall clutch rod boot
Clutch and brake pedal rubber covers
Clutch and brake pedal bezels (optional)
Reverse lamp switch
Reverse lamp wiring harness
Reverse gear indicator light (optional)
Speedometer cable and gear (IDK if the 727 cable can swap over)
4 speed trans tunnel hump
4 speed carpet
Driveshaft possibly, or at least a yoke
U joints
Floor shift steering column (if currently a column shift)
New starter (possibly)
All associated bolts, bushings, bearings, seals, gaskets, and retainers

I sure I've missed something, but this list will get you started.

Reproduction 4 spd console top plates around $700 and reproduction console shift handle around $300. There a $1,000 right there unless you can find suitable used for cheaper. If you gonna do all that work I would go TKX or T56 Magnum for better shifting and over drive.

It IS a BIG job. I did it to my 69 340 Barracuda about 20 years ago. I was lucky. I found a RUSTY 69 Barracuda Fastback car with a running 340, 3.55 geared 8 3/4 rear end with Sure Grip, 4 Speed, console and stainless trim around the pedals for $3200. I kept all the four speed stuff, sold the running 340, sold my 727 with floor shift and console, and then parted out the rest of the car. Even after paying to have the shifter rebuilt by Brewers, buying a new clutch, buying a new flywheel, having the shifter handle and console top plate chrome plated, buying a 4 speed rebuild kit (I rebuilt it myself) and buying many new pieces like new pedal bushings, shifter boots etc, I made money on my swap. I made out like a bandit parting that car out. OK Granted you won't find a running 340 4 speed car for $3200 today, but the idea is the same. Let's say you found a rusty 4 speed car for $12,000. By the time you sold the transmission and floor shift and console from your car and parted out the rest of the parts car you could be into your swap for a reasonable amount. As far as that goes, call Brewers and see what they have to say. Their conversion less the cost of selling your parts may not be all that bad. But you still have a BIG job ahead of you. In fact, if you cannot do all the work yourself, if will cost a LOT any way you go.

If you don't have the budget to do it properly leave that beautiful car alone and drive it.
To be clear, money is not a problem. I had this car for sale in the fall in the hopes I could sell it to buy my buddy's flawless 4-spd Demon - but he sold the car before I could sell mine. I've been looking at other 4spd a-bodies and haven't had any luck finding one as nice as my car. Yeah I know it's a big job, but there are plenty of very talented mechanics that could help me to do this and I'm in no rush. I just think spending $7k "on parts" is a bit excessive. Thanks guys - I just want to have fun for the 1,000 miles a year that she's out and about. I truly appreciate your input.

Thanks
Dave C

They never offered 71 4-spd cars with a console, so I'd probably be ditching this one. I'd be saving all of the parts I took off of the car.

Would look good keep console with 4 speed top plates and console shift handle.

Ooooh that would be awesome. I'll need to fasten the console to the floor better than the 4 sheet metal screws the factory installed. With the cam in this car it shakes and rattles the heck out of it now - lol. We'll see - thanks

I got my shift handle and console plates from Brewers. Took about three days to show up at my front door:
