Well Now the work begins. All the undercoating needs to be removed. The cowl cut off for media blasting which will be done right out sid the door. The easiest way to remove all of the media from the body when done is to do one side at a time. Lift the front of the rotisary up with the skidloader a littlle when you turn the rotisary the media lays in the back of the rear quarters. It can be vacuumed out from there . I will try and get some pics of that proccess if there are more than my son and I here at that time. The skid loader has a full inclosier and I may be stuck inside while he is cleaning it.

02/23/2012 Cleaned up the shop put some parts away.

snapped pics of the brake and fuel line routing.

Also pics of the wheel lips they rolled for slicks. This will be a restore so all must be addressed. Some weld beads on the rear inner around the cleanout plug.

Also brought in a 1970 Duster 340. This will be used for some parts so it will get stripped and junked. I offered it to anyone with a a-body stick car for a trade but had no replies. everything is here for the car including the interior only rips are front seats so the rest was taking out and dry stored.. clear title , all tags and numbers.

Some parts will be saved and shelved for future sales. Its ashame no one wants to save the bad ones. I can't do them all. Thought I would add pics of all cars that will be used for parts on this restore. There will be others pictured as they come in to get parted. This will be the only 340 car so far. It has issues no one wanted to tackle.

Still have to laugh everytime I see this thread pop-up.. I keep expecting to see a pile of rust and metal filings after someone gets a little ticked off with their project lol..

It's moving along quickly!

Grant

The under coat is being scraped off right now and the motor is being freshened. as they get more done I will post more pics . They are going to close up the holes cut in the frame for the offset spring mounts tonight.

Well the scraping is done now it gets blasted on the next nice day. I am going to cut the cowl and front lower quarters just to clean and take care of rust before it starts. I already did the rear lowers and I am glad I did. I ended up replacing the drivers trunk extention The lower quarter seams were kept under the floor level so they will not be seen from the trunk. The cowl will be spot welded back on . The new used piece will not be spot weld drilled off of the other car it will be cleaned so there is no holes from a drill.

Great work going on here.
It's going to be great when you are finished!
Too bad you are parting the '70 340 car, but that's life.
You're right, you can't save 'em all!

02/29/2012 Installed a block and trans in today so I can put the console brackets back in. I didn't think I would find a console in time but I did thanks to (swifterthanyou) and fabo. Here are some pics of what was done until I pick up the console it will sit like this so it can be mocked up.. I will start assembling the engine and the suspension and rebuild a trans It will be assembled on the stand it will be lifted in on. That is tommorrows project to start. and get the powder coatimg heater ready .

Definitely some good work going on here. Looking forward to more.:coffee2:

I am waiting to pick up the console for my Duster . So in the mean time I desided to pick out some of the parts I need. Well one thing led to another and now we are cleaning out and sorting parts into clear plastic containers. I want to use the best of whats here. I need to have enough for three builds . My 71 Duster 340 I am doing now . My 71 Demon 340.?? Maybe if it don't sell first. And my soon to be new addition a 70 340 4spd duster with air. I don't want to have to buy one screw or clip.

My place is a total mess. I have parts scattered all over here . A two story garage , Two 16x24 sheds and two enclosed race trailers full of a-body parts I accumulated over the years. . Here are pics of the one shed That I am going through. I can finally walk in. The loft above the lift is so full I cant even step onto the floor. My son is going to have to bring that stuff down.I will need to get at the ST grilles up there and a Gull wing and twin scoops . I think am going to put a latter stripe and scoops on this one. It is a v24 car but my other duster has that already.

This isn't work on the car itself but it needs to be done to make progress. I can't do anything until monday on the car body with the Demon block and trans hanging in it. And the motor parts didn't come in for the duster motor. I am Waiting for rings. I am going to have a sale when I get done picking what I need. I have to get rid of some of this stuff. I will list things I don't need as I can when I find something. I have come to realize I am a hoarder. It must be a desease that got me when I was younger. I don't have time to package and ship all this stuff. But my wife will if she gets a cut. So I have to watch what I sell until I do the shipping. She is to expensive.

Enjoy the pics of the junk until I can have them work on the car.

Uh.........Wow! I'm not sure it's hoarding, just a form of a savings account! Liquidating will be a chore though. Did I see a "spare" Tuff hanging there?!?

I think I saw a near perfect dash pad that will fit my Dart Sport.:coffee2:

03/05/2012 Some work got done on the Duster today. But it was in between him working on his Omni. I took the shiterhandle off of both shifters and put the console handle on the supershifter. The handle needed two holes put in it so it would fit the supershifter. I went with the super shifter because of the push down for reverse option nwitch makes these console shifters alot tighter and mor predictable going to second. The holes had to be excact. I paid alot for the three pieces Im using and the shifter is one of them. so I milled the holes for better control of hole placment . No walk on a cutter. Then it had to be beaded and polished.

After the handle was put on the shifter it was place on the car for tommorrows task. Here are some pics of the shifter difference and the proccess.

We then pulled his Omni motors out for the switch . Putting the new 450 + HP TII motor in place of the TI . After placing the motor the TI on the shelf we got back to the Duster. The shifter was installed and now the patches where the old consol brackets use to be need to get cut out. The new pieces will get but welded in so the weld canot be seen when complete .That should be tommorrow. I hope! Here are some more pics.

Here is a pic of the shifter in the linkage difference in the stock to supershifter. Also pics of the welded patches that have to be fixed to hide the repair .

And last The helpers that are more in the way then you could imagine. We have seven. These two are my tail. They cause to much trouble at the house so I am stuck with them. everyday at the shop. Duke and Bullit. Bullit the one looking up at the camera is from Greenbriar Arkansas, We got him after the win at Bullit Speedway in Texas. We named him bullit and he has gone to every race since . He is 4. He spends all his time at the consession stand or bumming food in the pits from where ever he smells a grille going. Everyone knows him by name and he is always at the trailer ready to travel at the end of the feature. He loves to ride and watches for deer at night.
