1972 Demon Build

Good luck with the surgery!
I'm goin at it with my '72 also.
Keepin a close eye on yours. Take your time, do what the doc says!

im up in Albemarle if you need anything. been doing this a long time.....

heck, ill be in southern pines next week for work!!

Well ****.. Stop in for coffee.

I started making a parts list for car. Needs a lot of small stuff. And bring something to haul a new motor home with you!

Ok. Ordered some parts for the car. Holding off on anything big until I get some stuff sold. Gotta keep the deal with the wife. BBP 11 inch drums in rear. Conversion to Full V8 suspension with BBP disc up front. Surgery went ok, but slow to recover after.

Got as far as literally picking up stuff off the floor of the Demon. Worked on the 79 D150 instead. Changed plugs, wires, dizzy cap, and oil/filter. Took me 3 hours to do that and change the driver's wheel brake caliper. Needed help with the caliper as I couldn't lift the wheel. Hell the caliper and the impact wrench felt heavy! Bled the brakes and test drove it down the road. Guy popped out of his house, flagged me down and offered me $5k.....hmmm.

Took 2 of my six kids to the shop today and let them run around outside in the sunshine while I stripped the Demon. My belly wouldn't let me get the dash and column out and I had to stop.

Car needs full floor pan which came with it. Demon has long tabs that hold wiring in place that I need to get.

My buddy laughs at me because I take pictures. I checked the trunk extensions and driver's side is mint. Passenger side is good but needs to have jack support addressed.

Passenger side drip rail must have leaked at some point. Will address inside, cut out all exterior mud and stuff and reseal. Pin holes around passenger a pillar more than likely caused by same.

Driver drip rail leaked at the rear and rusted a small spot near the b pillar. Same treatment on this side.

Apparently I thought those pictures were better than they actually were. Lol kinda like a dimly lit room where everyone looks great!

Ok. If I put it on paper it gets done. Been that way my whole life. List on this one is a mile long! Lol. Will be nicer than my Swinger when done. Car will be white with red stripes with red and white interior. Small block is out. So 360 and 408 are leaving on a crate or in another car. Found a 72 440 that I will build the dogsnot out of....R/T Demon anyone?

The white and red/red and white combo will look really good.....and there won't be 82 more just like it at Rockingham or Farmington! What kind of surgery? Take it easy and don't do too much till you heal up some.

Ahhh the surgery. Well hell, I had a bad hernia in my belly button. Been trying to avoid surgery for a few years as it worsened. FYI, hernias don't get better with time. The terms "button, belly button, belly of the beast, etc." is appropriate as that sucker is attached to everything. Not allowed to lift more than 5 pounds, wife is officially tired of helping me pee..lol. So how did I get it? I was deployed in support of our guys and a unit from Romania a few years back. Gym = weights. I became friendly with a Romanian Olympic weightlifter. In 6 months I gained 20 pounds and was bench pressing 315# and pop....lol. Peer pressure, it's an international thing!

And yes....finding a white one is not common....so if no one else likes a red and white car I will keep it.

I've got a small belly button hernia too, but it hasn't gotten any worse since the doc found it during my D.O.T. physical several years ago. I'm sure I'll have to get it fixed one of these days, and will do it before I retire.

I like red & white too bad it will probably be out of my budget :(

Gary I am an average dude. I have almost everything to get the car together. Just need time. Budget is understood. When I say nicer than the Swinger I meant more that I am a hundred times smarter than I was when I started it. Time is money and I won't be wasting any on this = cheaper.

72 Duster buckets or some Camaro Buckets?

With old school power, old school buckets. If you were doing a 5.7 hemi, I'd say modern buckets.

BTW - my son is officially enlisted. He leaves for Basic Training on 20160223. He ended up choosing Paralegal Specialist as his job specialty. I think he will be great at it, he has a very sharp mind and remembers almost every detail of things he reads.

Super.

Congrats to your son. I joined January 19, 1990!

Funny you should say that about the Hemi. Not this build, but I literally stopped at the shop and threw a tape measure on the firewall, dash, and doors. I will plug those numbers into my brain. Next time I am at the junkyard I will do the same thing on a Challenger. Transplanting the entire driveline and interior is almost where I started the Swinger.

I vote Crumaro buckets of you plan on doing any cornering with the car. I'm planning on 3rd gen firebird seats myself.
