I have a 1972 Dodge Dart. The passenger tail light works, signal light works, but the brake light will not work.

Ideas? bad socket?

Check the switch on the pedal first. It is real simple on/off and obvious how it works. It has a simple slotted position adjustment.

Does the brake light work on the OTHER side? If so, it's the column switch

First make sure the socket is grounded.

Yes.
Driver side: Brake, Tail, and Signal light work.
Passenger side: Tail, and Signal light work.

Except...

Sunday went into the garage with a volt meter to check the socket. Pulled the lens and applied the brake before removing the bulb and the brake light works now on both sides. So hard to fix what is not broke.

Thanks for the replies, if it goes out again will look at the column switch.

P.S.
In "column switch" are you referring to the "ignition switch on the steering column"?
