Hey, I have a 1972 Duster has a 340 in it. When we bought it it had a Holley Sniper kit on it. Starts and runs fine but is shutting off after 30/45 mins of driving, looking for advise or if others have had the same. A little info on its current set up - It has a 3/8 rubber line from a fitting at the bottom of the tank to the Sniper unit. It has a inline fuel pump (on the straight section of frame around the front leaf mount area) probably about 2/3 feet from the tank, with a filter before and after it. For the return line from the sniper kit back to the tank, they ran 1 to 2 ft of the 3/8 rubber hose and connected it to the cars original/factory (pretty small diameter was originally a /6 car) metal inbound fuel line that was no longer being used since the sniper inbound fuel was the rubber line, and at the gas tank end a rubber hose to a fitting in the top of the tank. For venting there is a factory vent or return line nipple at the top of the tank, they ran hose from the nipple to the cars original vent line that runs up to the engine bay and just dumps out. As far as the original sending unit fuel pick up and vent lines that go in the back of the tank on factory set up they are capped at the tank..

We though a few things that may be causing the issues..
1. is that the fuel pump seems pretty far away from the tank and possible over heating.
2. the return line not only seems small but also with it just returning and dumping back into the top of the tank to splash down inside the tank, though maybe it was also airating the fuel in the tank over time possible causing issues.
3. the venting ideally seems like it would be ok but its basicaly running the lenth of the car.

Few things we though about doing,
1. Move the pump near the tank,
2. wanted to see if others have tried this or think this would sound like a good idea... for the return line, run the ideal 3/8 size rubber all the way back to the tank (vs. the small metal original inbound fuel line), instead of returing the fuel to its current "top of the tank fitting" to just drop into the tank.. we thought about uncapping the original fuel pick up line at the tank/sending unit and returnig the fuel there, thinking it would drain into the bottom of the tank since thats where the pick up/filter sock is to keep it from getting so much air in the gas. They even have a factory styl sending unit/pick up that has a 3/8 line down into the tank.
3. thought about running a bigger diameter vent and dumping near the rear of the car istead of long thin line to the engine bay

Hopfully this makes sense without actually seeing it, any and all suggestions/info/advise is appreciated, Thansk Nick
