Hi Everyone .. I have stumbled upon a 1973 Dodge Dart Sport ..

I just have a few questions

Did any 1973 Dart Sports come off the assembly line in Plum Crazy? This one is purple and he claims for it to be original.

And also .. The car is a fully optioned out 1973 Dart Sport 340 4 speed car with factory moonroof, I was just wondering if anyone here had production figures for this? Seems to be pretty rare

Thanks A lot

1973 Dart Sport
Fastback Coupe: 68,113
340 Fastback Coupe: 11,315
Total 1973 Dart Sports: 79,428

As far as the Plum crazy color, there aren't any good numbers for that. There's a percentage of cars painted certain high impact colors, but no info on Plum Crazy for '73. If it's original it would have the code FC7 on the fender tag. Info here High Impact Color Production % #'s

Here's an old thread on Sunroof Dart Sports 1973 Duster & Dart Sport 340 SUNROOF cars

But no, doesn't look like there's any production numbers beyond the number of 340 cars. No break down for auto vs 4 speed, nothing by color, and definitely nothing for the sun roof option. It's a pretty rare car, but, it's still a '73, so value and rarity aren't tied as closely together.

It would have to have a 999 paint code, and also an FC7 code. I've only heard of one documented FC7 Mopar after 1971, and that was an E body with the 999 paint code. If it doesn't have an original build sheet, it would be tough to prove.

There were around 1500 340 4 speeds in 73.... a fraction of those had Convertriple pkgs.... Plum Crazy was only available in 70 and 71 unless is was a custom order paint ? And Im not sure if an individual car could get a special paint ???

"he claims for it to be original"

Avoid claims, some sellers do not really know what they have.

Look at the fender tag or ask for a clear photo so you can see the actual data & not a 'claim'.

Working on this one

So, checked it out... Looks like better suited as a parts car.. not a real plum crazy car.. Blue car from the factory..

Here she is .. This ones going to be a parts car.. Pretty rough.. But is a very oddly optioned car.. 1973 Dart Sport Sunroof 340 4 speed Bench Seat .. Blue wih Blue interior.. Black performance hood treatment and stripes..

Car is a very cool example of a late 70s/ early 80s "day two" car..

Equipped with a ton of performance and show goodies

Leather in the engine bay on the inner fenders and cowl

Chrome suspension parts

Traction Bars

ACCEL Coil and wires

Chrome air cleaner and valve covers

"Race" hose coverings

Chrome rear end cover

"Custom" stripes

Velour interior and more!! Thing was actually a show car! Have pictures of it at some local shows!

Why not save it? It has the reason bran hood, the bench seat, 4 speed and the sunroof.

Those cars are pretty rare.

It's actually a 1973 Demon, except for pat Robertson and his gang of ding dongs forced a name change.

I would try to sell it .. But I don't think it's worth it sadly .. Needs the usual quarters, floors, trunk and torsion bar support .. It's sad but I think it's best for this one to donate it's parts to those that need them.. If it had the original 340, I would definitely consider keeping and restoring it .

Definitely try and sell it first - and give it a shot before the parts fly. Unfortunately, you probably will get more money out of it by parting it. Such a great selection of rare options, you would be hard pressed to find another one like it. I wish I had some solid numbers for the sunroof A Bodies, but the numbers elude me so far.
Scott.
Mopar Sunroof Registry.

Yeah it would be a darn shame to part that car out. Unless you're talking about a Hemi or letter option car there's pretty much always more money in parting them out, that kind of logic would leave very few examples left that only rich jerks that would never drive them could afford. Quarters, floors, trunk and even a crossmember is getting to be par for the course with a lot of these cars now depending on your location, and all of those parts are reproduced. Sure, you won't make money on this one if you do that much work, but if money is all you're worried about you should give up classic cars and hit the stock market.

Ummm

It's a Basin Street/Petty Blue car with sunroof and fold down rear seat.

IIRC, 1099 340 4 gear Dart Sports in 1973

And a 340, and a 4 speed, and a performance hood option. Just as a '73 340 car it's more rare than a 1970 Challenger R/T, they made 13,796 of those. Less than 1,500 340 4 speed cars in '73. Sure it's a '73 and will never be worth anything near what a '70 Challenger R/T is worth, but it is a pretty rare combination.

Fine example of a 73 went at BJ the other day. 4 speed car. I think it went for 26k.

Crazy....I have a 73 Dart Sport 340 automatic, TX9 black. I'm getting ready to sell it. I guess it may bring more than I thought!

Blu, I am eyeing a similar one.

1973 Dart H Code value

Any ideas on how to value these 4 speed H bodies with no motor?

Crazy....I have a 73 Dart Sport 340 automatic, TX9 black. I'm getting ready to sell it. I guess it may bring more than I thought!
I did sell mine last July. It bid to $9700 on ebay, then the bidder flaked. The second run, it topped out at $9000 but the guy followed through.

what does it mean by
69 only fold down rear seat ?
69 only?

69 only?

It means the decoder wasn’t programmed with the right description for that model year.

I’d have to look at the codes but I would guess that means that the factory used the same code for a fold down seat in 1973 as they did for a 1969 Barracuda.
