I'm pretty mechanical, I need to remove the lower control arms to replace the lower bushings. I took the tension off of the torsion bar, I gather the torsion bar needs to be removed and that is to the rear of vehicle? I took the rear clip out of its slot. Is a pair of vice grips a good idea to clamp to the bar and use a hammer as well? Should the bushing pivot shafts slide out of the lower bushing? Once this is done, should the bushing be air hammered out of the lower control arm? Any correct step by step of the entire procedure would be greatly appreciated I have done bushings on GM vehicles but never on my Duster, Thanks.:clock:

DO NOT USE VICEGRIPS! Rent, borrow or make a torsion bar removal tool. You don't want to scratch that bar, it weakens them..gives it a failure point. Clamp it between 2 pieces of wood and use a deadblow hammer to free it. I used a old 5/8 bolt to drive the pin out. I cut the outer sleeve with a hacksaw blade (used a cheap holder and took my time.) and the inner was more of a challenge. It was frozen to the pin, some heat and PB Blaster eventually got it free. Good luck, it's not a bad job, just dirty! One more thing, check the K frame bushings where the pin is bolted through, they will crack but can be repaired.

Where are these k frame bushings, I see where the pin goes through the k frame however I do not see bushings

Here is a picture of the metal bushings or reccievers. The pin from the LCA should fit snug into it and be torqued to 140 LBS if I remember right. This one was cracked and had to be rewelded and re-inforced.
