True story. Tried to do it right. Bought three cans of the good Chrysler blue engine stuff. Every can was bad. Spit and sputtered, wouldn't spray worth crap. Taking them all back. Went to Lowe's, picked out few cans of a light blue. That's what I get for buying expensive stuff. LOL
I bought plymouth commando red engine enamel and the high heat primer at pep boys. It layed on nice and shiny. I dont wver buy anything from pep boys, but i will buy the engine paint from em.

Bought chrysler mopar race hemi orange years ago for a 440 i built didnt cover worth a ****. Was watery as heck. Wont ever use their engine paint again.

I used this same paint on another engine, and it has held up surprisingly well. Plan ole Krylon enamel.
Probably do red when I build the 408.

One little issue, got the distributor drive in a tooth off. Tried the ole screw driver coat hanger trick. Wouldn't budge. So I got an old gutted points distributor I had, and a 15/16 socket and spun it right out. Have to remember that one!

Wow looking really good. Not much longer now. When are you gonna try to get the engine in?

Thanks bud! Probably set it in next weekend.

Lol. I wish not much longer. Short list:
Dash resto. Complete wiring. Driveshaft. Rear brakes (maybe disc conversion). Interior. Floor shifter. Windshield. Grill. Fuel tank.
Edit: e brake. Gas and brake peddles. Steering column.

Shooting for Ocala Garlits show in November, but IDK.........

I'm in the same boat I am just hoping to get the engine in mine and hear it run by the end of fall!

Dont feel bad my goal was to have mine running by August of last year Haha

Yes they do and I have learned all to well that no plan goes as planned!!! Ever!!

Didn't have a 727 car trans dipstick tube, but I did have a couple 904 tubes. Bent and massaged one into shape!

Weathers been awesome for us. Makes ouside work nice. Trying to beat the god-awful summer months. Decided to use exhaust manifolds and TTI headpipes for now.

Yea I dont know how you stand Florida in the summer. It's so miserable. I love Florida in December tho.

Think I'll work on the floor shifter brackets and shifter linkage tomorrow.
Now where were those welding templates............

Layed down a piece of cardboard, and made a real nice template. Only to find out it was off. The front and back bracket were too far apart. I don't know what happened. Probably operator error. Maybe I have an early A console or something. Maybe it's the repop brackets. Then I just screwed the front and back brackets to the console, reached up under and marked their location with a sharpie. Just put the shifter bracket where it needed to be. Worked fine.
