This link should help:
http://www.mytrain.com/dakotaStories.html

Summary:
Built in 1989 and 1990.
2WD and 4WD models available.
Pretty much a V6 Sport edition with the roof modified.
Manual convertible top.

Other thoughts about 1989 Dodge trucks:
First year for ABS.
No airbags.
Throttle Body fuel injection.
Problematic transmissions...
5x4.5 bolt pattern.

IIRC, in 1990 the dealer had one for $14,400, but I bought a Shelby Dakota instead.

When I worked at the dealer we sold a lot of them. The trend started in Calfifornia and somehow the factory came up with the idea. When they came in for the first repair it was always the air leaks or water leaks. We tried everything to get them to seal. And later they started to sqeak and squeal. I was glad to hear they discontinued them. If you really love a truck and can live with the air noise and water leaks (if you drive in the rain or speeds above 25mph) then this is the truck for you. Personally I would rather find a shebly truck as they are going up in value and not down.
