I'm looking to redo the exhaust on my 68 Barracuda. Current welds look like birdshit and I'm not in love with the tinny sound of the current mufflers. It's a 440 with TTI Shorty Headers. I'd like to run an X-pipe. Both TTI and Pypes make a 2.5" exhaust kit w/X-pipe for A-bodies. I've read many mixed reviews on the quality and fit of the Pypes kits. TTI seems to have a better fitment, but lesser quality material as their kit is made of aluminized mild steel rather than stainless. Would you reccomemd one over the other? Are there any other kits you'd reccomend instead?

Just ne but I would buy the exhaust system you want and then replace the crappy x pipe either of those company's use. The magnaflow Tru x or one of the Chinese copies are a better design IMO. Hell even the BBK x pipe un the mustang kits is a better design than the two little holes Tti and pypes uses.
The stamped x pipe on my Duster flows better than the crap in the Tti and Pyoes kit IMO.

I had TTI custom bend a complete 3 inch 304 stainless steel exhaust system from manifolds back. They can do stainless steel, you’ll need to call them.

you have tti headers on the car so i'd go tti exhaust. you know it will fit. is stainless really necessary? for me no? not sure why people get hung up on stainless. tti sure isn't using cheap pipe. its much thicker then other pre-made exhaust i've seen out there.. i've had a tti system on our dart since 2015 or so and it still looks great. fits great and would use it again.. its a 2.5" X-Pipe and turn down system.

problem with that is that a pre made exhaust would have to be heavily modified to run that thing you have. may as well go to a shop and have a custom system made if you are using a different x-pipe then the system comes with.

.

You absolutely would and that doesn't bother me while it may most folks.

I do miss the Dr Gas X pipes with the curved legs. Easier to adapt to pipes and their design was the best IMO.

better off going to an exhaust shop then and getting a full custom job. i wouldn't want to butcher a thousand dollar exhaust system.. tti system is built to fit their headers or a specific manifold. gonna be all screwed up looking modifyling it to fit a different x-pipe right in the middle of the system..
