Correction!
Congratulations to 'Nick2317' (FBBO) for winning the Top Qualifier title for the 2019 NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals with a very nice total of 20.0 bonus points. 'Nick2317' (FBBO) picked the #2 qualifier in Top Fuel, the #1 qualifier in Funny Car and the #8 qualifier in Pro Stock. Way to go!
'Back in Time' (FABO) grabbed the runner-up qualifying spot with 18.0 bonus points.
More great picks!

We have 17 players this week and only 12 different driver combos made up of:
* 4 different Top Fuel drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. There is a possibility of one head-to-head matchup in Round 2.
* 6 different Funny Car drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. There is a possibility of two Round 2 head-to-head matchups.
* 4 different Pro Stock drivers with one Round 1 head-to-head matchup between #8 qualifier Greg Anderson (11 picks) and #9 qualifier Alex Laughlin (1 pick). There is a possibility of one Round 2 head-to-head matchup.

Here are the results and point standings following completion of the 17th NHRA event of the 2019 season, the 38th annual Lucas Oil Nationals.

Let's just say the game results from this event weren't quite as stellar as usual.
Congratulations to '64BEL' (FBBO) for winning the "Top Picker Eliminator" title for the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals with a total of 82.5 points. He was helped with Speed bonus points in Top Fuel. Both his Top Fuel and Funny Car picks lost in the finals, and his Pro Stock pick lost in the opening round of eliminations.
'stroked340' (FABO) took the event runner-up spot with 70.0 points with picks that have been carried over for the past eight race events because he hasn't posted any new picks for eight races.
And 'Nitro Will' (FABO) grabbed the event 3rd place spot with 60.0 points with picks that have been carried over for the past ten race events for the same reason.
Like I said...not as stellar as usual

Here's where the bonus points were earned if you picked the right drivers:

Get your picks posted and GOOD LUCK!

I'll post new point totals with the reset points sometime over the weekend

As promised, following are the standings showing new 'reset' points.

PLEASE NOTE:
* The "pick carry over" is not in effect for the end-of-season 6-event "Countdown". You MUST either post picks for each event or "lock" your picks if you feel you may forget to post new event picks or you want to guard against your computer going down for any reason. Of course, you can always override your "locked" picks for any event or change your "locked" picks at any time.
* If your picks are currently "locked" then they will continue to be "locked". If your picks are not "locked" or they are "carry over" picks from previous events, then you MUST post picks for the next event and each following event in order to stay in the "Countdown" for the remainder of the 2019 NHRA season. Of course, you can post new picks for the first event of the "Countdown" and "lock" them.
* If you override your "locked" picks for a single event, your picks will revert back to the "locked" picks for the next event unless you post otherwise
* Now that we're heading into the "Countdown", I WILL NOT BE SENDING ANY REMINDERS TO POST PICKS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE 2019 NHRA SEASON. To use a classic drag racing saying, "If you snooze, you lose"!
*If your picks are not "locked" and you fail to post picks for any event during the "Countdown", then you will be "parked" for the rest of the 2019 NHRA season with the points you have earned up to that time.

Here's how we currently stand going into the "Countdown":

2000.0 - cuda20 (FABO)
1970.0 - Back in Time (FABO)
1960.0 - alsant (FBBO)
1950.0 - Budnicks (FBBO)
1940.0 - Duster79 (FABO)
1930.0 - Nick2317 (FBBO)
1920.0 - ocdart (FABO)
1910.0 - memike (FABO)
1900.0 - Garry in AZ (FABO)
1890.0 - super-bee_ski (FBBO)
1880.0 - johnnycuda (FABO)
1870.0 - MomsDuster (FABO)
1860.0 - stroked340 (FABO)
1855.5 - 64BEL (FBBO)
1849.0 - 71dartswinger (FABO)
1839.0 - SSG Karg (FABO)
1829.0 - Nitro Will (FABO)

Before the point reset, the difference from 1st to 17th was 1044.5 points, now it's only 171.0.

GOOD LUCK ALL!

I just read on nhra.com that Tom Jobe, the last of The Surfers Top Fuel team (Bob Skinner, Mike Sorokin, and Tom Jobe) from the mid-'60s, passed on September 7th.
Although they were only together as a team for 3 years, they left great memories, a huge legacy, and a lot of stories.
Here's a link to a great article on them by Phil Burgess of nhra.com...

A farewell to Tom Jobe: The last of the Surfers
