I actually saw a TV ad for the Winter? Nationals at Pomona :realcrazy:.
They're going to use borate bombers with white fire retardent to make the San Gabriel Mtns. look "winter" correct on TV.

With the fire season ramping up out here in the West, they better save all the retardant they can for wildfires!

One of the borate dispensing contractors has a terminal/loading station here at the airport. DC-10 being one of their bombers, about 3 weeks ago it flew off to the north and didn't return until yesterday. It was no doubt in use somewhere to the north. It's back today and it brought one of it's little Chinook buddies. They haul that borate like they do cement powder, in pneumatic trailers. Quite a process to watch when they get busy.

I've watched those big bombers (DC-10) fly into places to drop their retardant load that a much smaller plane probably doesn't have any business trying to get into. Those pilots got BIG BRASS ONES!

nhra.com currently shows the final Top Fuel ladder for the Sonoma Nationals only has 12 cars.
That puts only 4 cars in the top half of the ladder: #1 qualifier Brittany Force vs. #12 qualifier Shawn Langdon, and #6 qualifier Leah Pruett vs. #7 qualifier Justin Ashley in Round 1 of eliminations.
The winner of the top-half Round 2 race will go directly to the final round of eliminations.
In our game 'round win' points are only awarded if a car actually has to make a pass down the track.

Congratulations to 'Back in Time' (FABO), 'stroked340' (FABO) and 'ocdart' (FABO) for sharing the 'Top Qualifier' title for the Sonoma Nationals with outstanding total of 30.0 bonus points each.
'Back in Time' and 'stroked340' both picked the #1 qualifier in both Funny Car and Pro Stock, the #2 qualifier in Top Fuel and the #4 qualifier in Pro Stock Motorcycle. 'ocdart' picked the #1 qualifier in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock, the #2 qualifier in Funny Car and the #4 qualifier in Pro Stock Motorcycle.
'cuda20' (FABO) grabbed the runner-up qualifier spot with 28.5 bonus points.
'Nick2317' and 'Budnicks' were the top FBBO picker with 28.0 bonus points.
Great picks all!

We have 14 players this week and 12 different driver combos made up of:
* 4 different Top Fuel drivers with one head-to-head matchup in opening round of eliminations between #5 qualifier Mike Salinas (1 pick) and #6 qualifier Doug Kalitta (1 pick). There is also a possibility of another head-to-head matchup in the 2nd round of eliminations if both drivers survive Round 1.
* 7 different Funny Car drivers with one head-to-head matchup in the opening round of eliminations between #2 qualifier Alexis DeJoria (1 pick) and #15 qualifier Cruz Pedregon (2 picks). There is also the possibility of two head-to-head matchups in the 2nd round of eliminations if all drivers survive Round 1.
* 3 different Pro Stock drivers. The earliest possibility of a head-to-head matchup would be the semi-final round of eliminations if the drivers survive that long.
* 5 different Pro Stock Motorcycle drivers with one head-to-head matchup in the opening round of eliminations between #3 qualifier Steve Johnson (1 pick) and #14 qualifier Angelle Sampey (1 pick).

All year long I've been wondering where Alan Johnson was playing and there he was hanging out with The Scrappers and Mike Salinas :D Put a good tune on the Salinas hot rod too he did :steering:. Them San Gabriel Mtns sure look odd back there behind the starting line with no snow for the Winter Nationals . Go Scrappers!
