Can't seem to get my stuff together this year ! Missed posting a pole pick but will go with Kyle Busch and Ryan Blaney for the 500.

That was a very interesting 2023 season-opening Daytona 500...

...and after all of that, nobody picked the 2023 Daytona 500 race winner, #47 Ricky Stenhouse Jr., so no race winner bonus points this week.

Congratulations to '44070dart' (FABO), 'fishmens67' (FABO) and 'memike' (FABO) for correctly picking the race runner-up, #22 Joey Logano, and picking up
-3 bonus points this week.

'fishmens67' (FABO) had the low net score for the week with 2.0 points

#6 Brad Keselowski was the race leader at the end of Stage 1, #41 Ryan Preece was in 2nd.
#1 Ross Chastain was the race leader at the end of Stage 2, #48 Alex Bowman was in 2nd.

As a reminder here's a quick explanation of what the above numbers represent:

(your score before the race) (your Pole pick car #) (Pole winner bonus point) (race pick car #) (race pick car #) (Stage 1 bonus points) (Stage 2 bonus points) (race pick finish position) (race pick finish position) (race winner/runner-up bonus points) (your score after the race)
Please let me know if I show either your Pole or Race picks incorrectly or if you have any questions.

Please post your picks for the next race and let me know if you want to "lock" them in for future weeks. I will put an "L" before either your Pole pick or your race picks to show they've been "locked".
As always, you can always make different picks each week. Your "locked" picks will always be there should you forget to post your race picks, your computer malfunctions or the site should go down temporarily.

Don't forget to get your picks for the Pala Casino 400 at Auto Club Speedway (Fontana), the final race on the 2.0-mile D-oval before it is converted to a short track, posted before the green flag drops at approximately 3:45 PM EST (12:45 PM PST) on Sunday, February 26.

Your Pole Pick for Fontana will need to be posted before qualifying starts at 2:30PM EST (11:30AM PST) on Saturday, February 26.

NOTE: nascar.com does not currently show any qualifying for this race. If no qualifying then no qualifying bonus points.

If Mother Nature allows it  Good chance Auto Club Speedway may get the Winter Nationals curse, RAIN  Something about that last weekend of February and racing in SoCal

It's been over 50 years since Albert Hammond sang about "It Never Rains In Southern California".
The current forecast calls for rain starting Thursday and finally ending about noon on Sunday. Based on that the Fontana race may be a little later than scheduled, but should happen.
We'll see what 'Mother Nature' decides.
Gotta say I'm not happy about the upcoming conversion of Auto Club Speedway from a 2-mile track to a half-mile. According to the map the half-mile track will be between the existing center section of the main grandstands and the existing pit garages. The track is calling it an upgrade to a "state-of-the-art" facility. I think it's just a way to utilize the rest of the property as money-generating. I haven't read anything about plans for the rest of the property.

I am curious about their motives also. Maybe they are trying to lure those music festivals out of the desert  Irwindale's 1/2 mile is only 30 minutes away :realcrazy:.

I know it's early, but 18 points in the hole. I could use a good race

My Fontana final 2-mile picks:

Pole:
'Mother Nature'

Race:
#5 Kyle Larson
#12 Ryan Blaney

The one time I correctly pick the pole winner, and it doesn't count:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

I just read that an announcement yesterday in Sport Business Journal said NASCAR had just closed on a "major real estate deal" where they sold 83% of the Fontana propertry for an expected "nine-figure price tag".
There's the answer.
Progress? Not likely.
