273 to 340

-
I’m replacing my 273 Commando engine in my ‘65 Barracuda with a ‘70 340. Will my exhaust manifolds from the 273 fit on the 340?
The smaller ports from the 273 would limit horsepower at higher rpms- no doubt- but how much time will you be doing over 4500 rpm? Smaller ports may even gove more low end torque???? For a mild street 340 I would use the 273 manifolds- my plan when putting together a 65 Signet with 273 Commando hardware on the 340

Do you think I can use a 273 water pump on the 340 timing cover? I’m planning on using all the pulleys and brackets from the 273, but not the damper.

What year is the 340 you are using? 68/69 will have the timing marks on the same side as your 273. If you are using a later model engine, the 273 water pump makes it difficult to read the timing marks.

It’s a ‘70 340. Built in November ‘69.
