Im getting ready to try my 2x4 set up on my 66 Dart with a 408 engine. I will be using a pair of edelbrock heads, 1.5 rockers, 590 lift on both valves, compression should be right around 11.5-1. I am using a edelbrock tunnel ram with 2, 600 vacuum holleys. Factory jets in the primarys are 65s. I was reading an article that was saying with a 2x4 setup you should reduce the jet size 2 or 3 smaller. Was wondering what others have done when trying a setup like this for the first time. Also I am attaching some pics of my setup linkage. I had to use a 1/2" spacer on the rear carb because the throttle plate linkage bottomed out on the actual intake. The first pic doesnt show it very well but without the spacer the linkage would not open due to hitting the intake. Should I put the same height spacer under the front carb to match the rear. Any other tips you can throw this way will be greatly appreciated as well.
Lastly these 2 carbs were bought from a fellow member here a few years back and the bowls do not have the adjusters for the float levels so they must be set when rebuilding. What are your thoughts on this style. I didnt notice that when i bought them.
Another question was about the diaphrams on the secondary side. I bought the upgrades so I can change springs without disassembling them from the carbs. Where should i bring the vacuum from to each pod and I am guessing i should run the hose to a tee and from the tee to each pod so they get the vacuum signal at the same time?
Of course all this only matters if there will be enough clearance to close the hood without the carbs pushing up thru the hood scoop. lol
Thanks Rod
