Not sure if I'll be regretting the 3:73's yet, haven't had it to highway speed but am turning pretty high at 45 - what can I expect and how big of a difference with taller tire selection ? 340/727/3000 stall. Don't get me wrong, I want the quicker response - just curious.

You have a 26" tire now ? It shouldnt be bad on the highway. I ran 391 and a 26" tall tire with a 440/727 and 3000 stall. It was livable for the amount I drove it and it went like stink. Sideways from a 30mph roll in 2nd gear is fun.

I have 3:73's with a 27" tire and a 3000 stall and it turns about 2900 at 60 mph. I think you'll be right about 3k at 60 which isn't terrible by any means. You can throw fuel mileage out the window but it should run real good.

up to last week I was running 26 x 12.50 M/T's with 4:30 gears and a 4 speed and it wasn't bad around town But I don't do freeways or interstates - I now have 29.5 x 12.50 ET Drags on it and really isn't that much different RPM wise ... but the softer sidewalls makes the back of the car wiggle/waggle like a hoochy dancer ...LOL Have to now keep in the center lane to avoid the gutter ride

The last pic is the 26 M/T's

orangecrush, 26" tires turn 767 revolutions per mile. 767 x 3.73 (gear ratio)
= 2860rpm at 60mph, 3098rpm at 65mph, 3337rpm at 70mph. 27" tires will
drop the rpm by approx 100rpm at any given speed in top gear. With this info
you can substitute any gear ratio and do the math.

That's right on the button for a stick but don't forget to add some rpm due to converter slippage since your running an automatic with a high stall. 4-5% is a norm for most decent converters. That increases the rpm at 60 mph to 2974~3003 rpm.
