308 heads at summit

-
I see no way Indy can maintain that pricing in todays market . Most machine shops are charging that and more not counting parts and the core heads.

thought them airoheads were n/a for afew years now?? just posted the 308s cause some folks like them and cant find them in yards no more and if thay do chances of being cracked is good! these heads seem fair priced and im sure ant cracked, some people need to understand not every body wants or needs the baddest new aluminum heads,..or build the highest hp ether,..some times just a good healthy sbm is good enuff!!
lotta racing class rules dont allow aftermarket or aluminum heads,..guess thay **** outta luck getting any donuts!!
LOL your argument went from not everybody wants or needs the baddest heads to racing class rules? LOL..

Because of a lot of new machine shops. They have high prices because they need to pay for those machines and that oversized building they decided to lease.
Shop I use has been around since 1947.

Dialer back there Kilroy...lol..
I was compering your first post where when I mentioned a more economical option of a aluminum head that you went straight to going on how everybody doesn't need "the baddest aluminum head"... I believe the op was asking if the 308 was a good choice.. I thought I was offering a more economical brand new head and aluminum that was not rebuilt...
Then you go on to this class racing thing where aluminum heads can't be used.. which was the first in this threat about class racing...
Then when I mention that these two comments of yours are contrasting you go on like I know nothing about class racing.. (I like the way you twisted that LOL..) I'm 100% aware of class racing rules.. not sure how you thought I wouldn't...
Thank you for the compliment on my stroker motor!... I was not aware I had broken any records... By the way we're you referring to the one in my power wagon or my duster??...

Yep. And Skunk Holler (St.Helens) and Banks and on and on. It’s full on RETARDED to force those guys to use iron heads. The ruletards think they are saving money. But you know the donuts and dog turd thing right??

Much revolves around weight.
They know the cars and keeping the field tight/competitive is the goal.

Maybe where you are, but at the tracks I mentioned above (I’ve been to them all and if I never go back I’ll count that as a win) haven’t a clue about things like that.

I went to several rules meetings to show with real math how *** backwards they were from a money point of view and they still didn’t care.

The quote was something like they wanted to keep some things historically accurate or something like that.

Of course I questioned that and it went about like you’d expect.

Laughing with ya!
Let's see if anyone else wants to put their foot in their mouth.

To anyone else..
This is a helpful notice of availability for those of us looking for some. No one needs to insert a diddly damn thing.
Thanks @dirty white boy for letting us know about these, very kool of you to take the time and consider the rest of us.

Okay I talked to Indy cylinder head today. The only heads that Arrowhead has at the moment that are factory rebuilds are a pair of 906 big block heads. They are out of cores.
They have sold out of the new heads also. As for the Lax and the max they are waiting for The Foundry to get them some more castings for building up.
@fishmens67
The aluminum B Block. They have some on hand but they have 18 orders to fill right now. So they are building those Motors left and right as fast as they can. She said it would probably be a 3-month wait to get a block.
Now I asked her if I furnish my own core what would they build my heads for money-wise. She basically said that they would build my cores for what it would cost to buy their heads done. So $499 would get my 308 or 915s rebuilt with all new valves, new Springs, new guides, new seals, three angle valve job and then $100 more for 2.02.
Furnishing my own 915s that would actually be cheaper than buying the 915s from them.

I asked her about them buying cores and she said they were paying $25 for a pair of heads. I told her if they doubled that they would probably get more cores but it's not really worth pulling the heads off a motor for $25.
While I was on the phone I went ahead and paid for two swap meet spots.

Did she tell ya it tastes like rocky mountain piss?
True story the water coming out of the mountains to the Coors Distillery goes past a town called Blackhawk where there is a gambling casino. The septic system for the town dumps into the creek that goes down the mountain to the Coors Distillery.
So yes you can say it tastes like piss because there is piss in it.

YES! Indeed a thank you is in order.

I probably got at least $900 in my 596 heads that I originally put on my duster when I had the stroker motor put together.. then I bought the speedmaster heads and they had some kind of weird September sale a few years ago for like $800 to the door and I wasn't sure if they're going to have the Black Friday sale so I pulled the trigger for 800. Put those on my duster and then when I built the stroker motor for the power wagon I had those 596 is on the shelf so I went ahead and used them again... W2's or trick flows are completely out of the question for me... The 410 and the 408 with near factory heads has way more power than anybody sould need on the street... My next build is going to be at 440 stroker, we'll see where that goes but still won't be able to afford trickflows...

got lil more than $900 in both my duster and parts for them,..guess one mans turds is another mans donuts! i just know i rather build a budget mopar than a high dollar build of cheaper brand...dwb!

J……. Between the $900 - 596 heads, the cost of the super cheap Black Friday sale Speedmaster heads @ $800 and what ever work went into them that I’m sure you did rather than pay someone, I think you were and still are being short sighted on a TF or W2 head and what the real cost is of the head. The draw back to the W2 is specific intake and exhaust headers. But then again, you get what you pay for.

The TF heads the wife bought were a bolt on and run with upgraded PRW 1.5 rockers. A worthy expense IMO. Do the math and know the set up buries Speedmaster heads hands down. You spent $1700 on a pair when the TF heads (single sold) are $1,086 ($2172/pair) or top dog @ $1302. ($2604/pair) Spring and retainer choice difference in prices.

The flow specs OOTB speak for themselves.
If one is not knowing how to port cheap heads to match the expensive heads……

I tell ya for cast iron heads being junk, I cannot find a good deal on valve guide knurling and valve seat refinishing equipment anywhere, you'd think the stuff would be cheap. I did find a valve seat stone set for 4-500, but then a knurling kit is about the same so a grand to get into knurling cast iron heads and cleaning up the seats.
