My guess is that if the peaks happen at that low of an rpm, then the power numbers will fall short of the “400 range”.

Different dyno, but I tested a similarly sized cam in a 360 with “lesser” heads that peaked a fair amount higher than your prediction.

Unless something is holding it back……..I’m thinking the peaks will occur at more like 44-4600/6-6200.

But at some point, the answers will be revealed.

Yep. Seems a regular 360 build with similar heads as this peaks tq about 4500 rpm.
So i would guess this 318 will be in the 45-4700 rom range.

Yeah real curious.
AFR says their heads flow 190cfm at .300” lift
Seems like this should be a strong running 318…an overachiever some might say haha.

Been busy with customer work, recently picked up another shop who does engines for one of the nascar driving experiences, they got me pretty far behind doing there block work. But I'm hoping to get it to the dyno in the next few weeks, fingers crossed.

Sleep is overrated... great you are busy! Take care Sean

The amount of quality shops doing block work has been sinking like the Titanic the last 5-10 years, I expect Sean will have all the work He can handle ×10 knocking at His door, hard to retire from something You excel at & love to do.......just have to set a human pace & stick with it.

Count your blessings. I have a close friend who runs a shop in his backyard and he is SLAM covered up. He was really worried when he finally made the move to his home, but he has so much to do it's not funny. I tell him all the time it's because he's honest and a very good mechanic. His specialty is transmission work.

What's the latest status on the 318 build and dyno results?

I got to help with some of the maintenance of my friend Ben's Dyno. It used water out of The French Broad River, which sometimes presented a challenge. Usually something knocked the intake pickup in the river out of whack. One time, we caught some tree hugging kayaker trying to break the 2" steel pipe because it upset him "Seeing" it under the water! Most of the time we just had to pull the pickup to the top of the water and make sure the screen was clean and then ease it back down. Last year, Hurricane Helene put an end to all of that with the flood that put him out of business.
