I just bought a 90 318 with plans to use the heads on my 70 dart. Once i have taken it apart i notice they are not 302casting and are 714 casting and looks like they oil through the pushrods like a magnum motor. But they still have the heart shaped combustion chamber. Most articles i read said the 302 heads ran from 85-91. How do these 714 castings compare?? thanks

Do they have shafts or rocker stands like a chev?

If they ahve shafts you have a magnum, also, if the intake bolts are sideways into the heads, you have an LA< magnums pull the intake straight down.

Not sure on magnum casting umbers but I suspect you have a magnum.

Magnums have stud mounted rockers, not shaft. Besides the 302, I think the only closed chamber LA heads were used on 273's. Maybe not the original heads? How many valve cover screws? A picture would be helpful.

ok thanks guys i will try to get pics up tomorrow anyways. At work now. They do have rocker shafts and block is stamped 90. They have to be origional heads motor had 137k miles and was dirty enough to look like 350k miles lol.

I have a 714 head and 302 head, it will be ok if i put them togheter in my 318?
Best regards
