-
in 69 318's were red, police engines were hemi orange,340's were also red, hi po 383,440 and hemi all hemi orange, standard 383,440 turquoise

I got a 1973 318 in my 1966 barracuda painted orange
but I think it looks good, I am thinking of painting the 5.2 magnum red when I get around to installing it though

I do like the hemi orange though. Can't paint mine until machining is done. This is a older pic it's alot cleaner now.

in 1969 were the 318 engines red or blue , i have seen them both ways

all the 69 318's i have see were red. doesn't mean that a late 69 couldn't have been 70 blue though. if the car isn't 100% original who cares anyway. paint it the way you want it.

From Mopar Catalog:

P4349217 BLUE 16oz can - All 1972-1983 engines except 2.2L

...if you want to run factory blue. I did, and it looks good.

mine is late production july 69

If you are going by the date cast in the block, then your engine would be a '70 model. Good rule of thumb is to add 6 months to the casting date to get the date of installation in a vehicle. Blue would be the correct color for a '70.

i am leaving it blue and adding chrome

Red for early '69s, and blue for later cars. I've owned a dozen '69s and they changed about february.

I bought the car from the original owner who purchased it in April 1970 and according to her blue is the correct color. Thanks to all for the imput.
