318 head ID

Hey guys, where are the casting numbers on a head to ID 318 heads? I have a 1972 318 in my scamp currently that I would like to do a mild build on it someday. I also have a mid 80's 318 out of a van as a donor. I've heard about the 302 heads and hardened seats and was wondering if my mid 80's motor might have what I need. Thanks from a newbie.

Pull the valve cover off and look on one of the ports on the head.

Yeah bummer! Looks like the last three numbers are 289 on the head casting. Can anyone tell me about the block? It has casting number 2536030318-6. Which block would be the most desireable to build?
