318 questions from NEWBIE

Hi everyone-new to the site but not to cars n motors.Seems every boat except a few I have owned has the 318 in it.Please Help!!!!!!!!
Please verify for me engine rotation from my Model plates
Eng 1-LM318BXRX-901---Right hand rotation??

Eng 2-LM318BXLX-036---Left hand rotation???

What does the module(little black 3"x 5" box) do thats mounted to the intake alongside the valve cover??? Ignition??? How do I eliminate it??????

LA (Low deck 318, not poly) right hand Marine 318, 225HP, right hand. (Backwards)

Other is the same, except standard rotation.

Your lucky you have two, I have a single M360-R that snapped a crankshaft last week!

Good idea. Post pictures and of the black box. Since this is really a car forum and not a marine engine forum, most of us may be alittle lost in certain things about a marine engine.

I know theres more than just a few builders and marinners here.
