I know 318s do not get much attention, and people do not build them, but maybe you should, this is a pump gas engine, street car. in a 1970 Duster

We need Paul Harvey to give us the rest of the story.
Gear, converter, trans brake, weight, DA, tail wind, etc. ?
Nice pass!

Local guy has dipped into the 9s with his 318.

That's a pretty stout 318. Has to be upwards of 400 rear wheel horsepower. 60' time indicates good torque too. What does the Duster weigh?

Weight is probably around 2950 no driver at this point, 4.30 gear, no trans brake, no wind, DA was about 900 ft. 904 Trans. cam is under .500 lift, Ebrock heads.

Nice run! Since more of us should build 318s... encourage us with your 318 build specs and ballpark budget. I currently have a 318 with a lumpy cam that I want to get the most out of... maybe until it pops before I upgrade. Your 11.7 run would most likely equal a 12.7 at my altitude which is more than respectable on a pump gas 318!

Assuming a weight of 3150@the line?, and 386fwhp your tckt would look like this>
60 Foot E.T. : 1.63
1/8 Mile E.T. : 7.40
1/8 Mile Trap Speed : 91.86
1/4 Mile E.T. : 11.73
1/4 Mile Trap Speed : 114
Nice run, good 60.

This is the car that has won the last 2 years in the "small block race".... Nice! I've always said if mopar guys gave the same respect to 318's as Ford guys give the 302's in their fox body, you'd see a lot more 318 running like this.

I agree. That's a hoss for a 318.

Dang now i wanna see what my 318 would do, for sure not as quick. Only problem would be the rubber fuel injection line from the tank till the pump. Probably wont pass inspection. The last time they bitched at my slant six with fuel line mod. lol

Just about ready to put my Teener in a 63 Belvedere ! You proved that they are good, easy to come by,and can fly. THANKS !!!
