...for a budget recondition or build up ??

i just stumble a cross a 1969 318/904 tranny-combo for round about 520 $ (a good price here in Germany i guess) the combo was former mounted in a 1969 charger

now i thinking about building this 318 and swapping it in the 65 B´cuda instead of the 273.

so the question comes up - what can be made (without spending thousends of dollars/euros)

only want to get the engine a little bit more beefy

so - come on and give me some ideas

btw. what would you think will work better, old style single plane, a dual plane or (and i really like the look of it in the engine bay) a dual quad intake ?

Here is my low budget mild 318 build up.
318 .040 over rebuilt bottom end with flat top pistons with valve reliefs .060 deck height, Comp XE256 cam and summit lifters. rebuilt 5.2 Magnum heads with the Chevy beehive springs and retainers. .028 head gasket. Magnum dual plane air gap intake and holley 4160 600 cfm carb.

So far I am very happy with this little motor. According to desktop dyno it is making 330 hp and 370 tq. Not bad for a little 318 that has good street manners.

260 ISKY, small port single plane, or perfomer, 600cfm carb, port match, clean up the bowls, and scale balance.
Windage tray too.

you may want to check into a nice header/exhaust system. this is alway a problem on the early "A" cars. this alone will limit how much engine power will be made.
