I have a chance to buy a 3.79 stroke crank and .040 over pistons for my 340 .03 motor will make it a 396 this will be a flat top compared to my 11 .1 dome what you guys think? will it pick up with less compression? also was told this a mopar crank made by callies anyone heard this?

4 inch seems pushing it, i know, can be done. Still 3.79 has to be a little easier on everything.

Chinese didn't care, 4 inch sounded better, Chevy had it so Mopar got 4 inch also.

Bet nothing needs to be notch with a 3.79 stroke crank and the pistons skirts are a wee bit longer.

What is the new compression, I would think 10.25 could be done with 93 gas. That be only .75 less compression or 10--15 hp max. It pick up way more going from 3.31 to 3.79 stroke.

I guess your keeping it 6,000 or less? What is the 340 redline right now?

A guy named Craig azavedo in elk grove calif. Was running the same combo w 3.91's in a 69 dart and swirl port heads. 10.80's although a race car no back seat roll cage and stuff it had small blot pattern uncut body totally street strip bad car great combination.

Years ago High Performance Mopar magazine built a 3.79 stroke engine. It was a 372cid, it was a monster. Justas the 4" cranks were coming out. It was outperforming them.

11-1 was with a .038 gasket with a .027 it's 11.6-1 ross domed piston. i have been shifting at 6800to 7000 rpm this is where it ran its best times.so iam going to buy this crank and pistons, whose rods do you guys recommend? I know scat are good, no eagle stuff here! they will be stock length. also which intake? I have a ported strip dom. now and can get a victor or m1. any ideas?

Alain tremblay from airflow tech only swear
by this combination 3.79 stroke

he alwais said that a 4.0 stroke is only a block breaker

I would keep de strip dominator intake
those great and you already have one so
keep the money for something else

I have a stroked 372c.i in my 73 Dart sport 340,4 speed. When dynoed it made 452hp@5700,[email protected] ran it 3 yrs ago at the track 12.80@108mph,I,m sure I could,ve got more out of it.:burnout:

I have ran 11.80 with the 340 and 10.90's with a 100 shot
looking to get this in the mid 10's with out the juice.

This car has a 394 in it. True street car and driven a lot. Brian did the heads and spec'd the cam for it.

10.53 @ 125mph. 1.37 60 foot. Caltracs and Monoleafs, AFCO shocks.

That black Barracuda does some sick wheelies!! I seen that car over on Moparts. I like the sounds of the 3.70 stroke definately a big upgrade over stock stroke.

NOT THAT I WANT TO HI JACK HERE...BUT.I doing a 416 4 inch stroked 340....11.1 icon flat tops...MUSCLE MOTORS is doing the build...so your saying 4'' is too much...and another post say it will break the block...just asking why a 4'' is too much...thanks

Built well and within reason a 4" crank doesn't break blocks. If you intend on over 600-625 hp, then an aftermarket block should really be a consideration.

There are a bunch more 4" arms running around now than 3.79 arms. I'll bet there are going to be more 4.125-4.25 arms in SB than 3.79 in the not to distant future.

The 3.79 is a great build. A well thought out 4" arm is a good piece as well.

thanks...^^^^^ they are only going 550-575 hp on mine...only bad part is by the time i get the motor..and get the car running I will be under 3 feet of snow in this state..lol...I'll have to wait till spring to take her out...
