Will one of the late model (1986-91?) LA block 360's with the factory serpentine belt setup fit into my 1965 Barracuda? Without cutting everything up?

Anyone know?

Thanks
Gary

One bolt hole on one motor mount bracket from the 273 will be off (it can be cut and welded) other than that, the block should bolt in.

Only the first year 360 with the serpentine belt is a LA engine, all the later versions 360 are of the Magnum version. Nothing wrong with using the magnum version, other then fuel pump mount.

That's what I did when I threw a late model 318 in my car back when I rebuilt the 273. I cut a tab diagonally of a truck engine bracket and the same angle as the 273 bracket where it was missing one, and welded it on. Worked just fine.

You will need to ding the oil pan in so the steering linkage clears. The 1965 273 pans had that depression, but won't fit a 360/5.9L (should fit a 318/5.2L). You also must have a V-8 steering center link. It drops more than the slant six one. You will also need an adapter ring for the crank register to fit the smaller snout of the torque converter if using the original tranny. Charlie_S here sells them (~$20). You can find all these answers and more by searching.
