I have a 1994 5.9 360 magnum that I have put into my 1974 charger. Does anyone know if the alternators are internally regulated? It has the main heavy starter motor battery wire that goes to it wire. If it's internally regulated I'm guessing one is a exciter trigger wire and the other is a dash light wire. One is a thinner green wire and one is a thicker blue wire. Does anyone know whats what or is it internally or externally regulated.

It does have an indicator wire iirc, but it's externally regulated.

I think that regulation is handled in the pcm in an oe application but in my car I wired it like normal to the regulator. The cummins ram guys are always adding external regulators when the pcm regulator goes tits up.

Since few replies, I'll take a stab and just add that the alternator (Denso?) in my 1996 Voyager 4 cyl is externally regulated just like a 70's Mopar, but the Vreg is inside the PCM as post 2 says. Search for posts I recall from Mopar truck guys who disconnected the wires to the PCM and rigged in a 70's Mopar Vreg when the circuit in their PCM failed. Probably Magnum engines.
