Can someone locate for me exactly where the pitman arm / centerlink hits the 360 oil pan? I have a Mildon that will be going on, and I'd like to "pre-dent" it if possible.

Pics appreciated!

thanks

Should not hit anywhere w/ the V8 drop-down centerlink. The front corners will hit the K-frame. Some notch the K-frame, I chose to shave off the front corners of the pan. Lots of previous posts on subject.

If that engine is going in to an early A he Drag Link will hit the pan on tight turns, drop down link or not. There is a small indent to the pan to keep from knocking a hole in it but I will have to run out to my shop and get you a measurement.

going into an early A. I have the drop link (was a 273 car). Schumacher 360/early A mounts.

Never heard of K frame / oil pan interference....can you elaborate? thanks

Pan I used was actually the standard one, not low profile. It's for 340, not 360 but shouldn't matter. Shaved corners shown, may not be needed on both sides but increases clearance a lot-

I think what swing 69 means is the pitman arm rubs on the side of a normal sump when on full lock ,as the early a sump has a recess for the pitman arm to travel into when on full lock ,there is no issue with sump to k member clearence

Terry is correct. The Milodon pan 396 used won't work on a 360 due to different main bearing sizes. My '65 valiant has a 318 out of a '87 5Th Avenue that had a stock for the engine pan and it hit on the drivers side only. Measure from the flywheel cover forward 3", make a mark, then go to 6 1/2" forward and make another mark. About half way between the marks and at a 45 degree angle heat the pan slightly and, using a length of half inch pipe, give it a bash. You want a recess that is about 3/4" deep. It goes without saying you hit it at the point where it makes the bend from vertical to horizontal. Sorry, Swing 69, re-read your posts and saw you are using a Milidon pan. My comments are for stock pans only.

I have a low profile milidon pan for a 360. I'm not sure how the stock 360 mopar oil pan compares. I better figure it out.... :)

I think I have MILODON 30755. I'll have to check for sure tomorrow.

I'd rather "ding" it out of the car if I have to......

Confirmed: anyone using the 30755 on a 360 in an early A????????

Although they won't interchange, the only external dimensions that differ between the Milodon 318/340 & 360 pans (to my knowledge) are the end seals. There is no interference on my car using factory motor mounts. Milodon calls the standard pan a low profile but really it's not, it's a big 8 quart deep sump. They have another called a low pro which is a true low profile, it has cutout for the steering link. Can't recall why I didn't use that one but must have had a good reason.

Was futzing w/ the clutch so took pics of the clearance at full crank. 5/8" on left & 1" on right. Definitely not something to worry about.

Sorry, my comments applied to a different Milodon pan. No offense but the 30755 is not a performance pan. Basically just an overpriced stock replacement. May in fact need to be dinged.

Not a performance build....so its fine. no offense taken. I'm hoping someone here has it installed in an early A so I can tell if it needs dinging!
