hey there,

i no this guy who has a 360 for sale, running and he said he would give it to me for 500 bucks.

Some people dont really like the 360's, is there anything wrong with them?? or just a bad reputation??? or are they good??

I've never heard of them having a bad reputation, There good motors but if you hear it run check for smoke ticks pull a vavlecover make sure it's not all gumed up.Cause you can buy a buildable 360 cheaper if it needs it

$500 is high.I paid $350 for mine.Running 360 4 bbl froma 78 p/u

i paid $500 for a

Low mile mopar performance 360 10:1 shortblock. Accepts magnum or la heads, flat-tappet or roller camshafts. And also a 998 trans (beefier 904). Maybe not the greatest deal, but i'd think better than a long block smogger 360.

What year 360 is he selling? Stock?

its from a 78 Cordoba i think, i think its stock

i just assume every stock engine as a core (ie: needs everything), and i price it accordingly. a 360 like your looking at...$150 top. if he says no, move on. theres lots out there.

I agree with BIGBLOCKAHOLIC that most every stock engine is basically a core. Prices do vary from location to location so that's the reason we see some guys saying they go for $350 in there area and others saying they go for $150. Around here a good core 360 engine is going for $250-300

The only people who don't like 360's probably never owned one. My first was a 74 Fury with 120,000 miles on it when I got it and I was 21 and ran the dog snot out of it until the suspension was trashed at approx. 200,000 miles but the engine and trans. still worked fine.

360's got a bad rep back when the first came out because they replaced the 340's in 74 and there was no such thing as a high performance 360 so they didn't run near as strong. They had low compression, smaller valves, and only a 2 barrell. If the 340 would have still been produced it too wouldn't have ran as good as it used too because everything dropped in performance after 71. That's the only reason some uneducated people don't like them.

that and no one made performance pistons for them for the longest time...

there is nothing wrong with a 360. they run very well.

$150.00 tops..now if it were a 340 it's worth at least 5 times that, this from an educated mopar man who HAS owned both 360's and 340's,and knows firsthand when it comes to smallblock mopars 340srule!!
