Hi guys
I'm new to this site so if I don't follow proceedure correct me.
I have a built 1978 360 truck engine that is assembeled and ready to go in my 74 duster. I'm removing a 318 that has a 727 transmission in it. The 318 and trans are 1976 out of a camper. The Question is. Can I resuse my 318 torque converter? I purchased a 360 flexplate but from what I read the 360 uses an external balanced torque converter. I've read in a couple of magazines where you can use a 360 converter with a 318 if you knock off the balance weigh but can't find anything about using the 318 converter with a 360 engine.
Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Which 360 flexplate did you buy? If it is the one made by B&M that is balanced for a 360, you are good to go with the 318 converter. If the flexplate you bought is a stocker, you have 2 options. You can buy a 360 converter with the external balance weights, or you can buy a kit from Mopar Performance or Mancini Racing that has weights you weld onto your 318 converter and a template for proper placement.

Hello
Thanks for the reply. The flexplate I bought on ebay just has some stamping on it. It is 360 sfi pep-fwfp 360 for 71 thru 92 360 motors. It is new not used. It doesn't have any balance weithts on it. Just a cut out spot like a half moon around the edge. I have a stoc converter out of a 727 behind a 440 with balance weights on it will it fit? My best bet is probably go with mancini racing.

Thank You
