I am converting a 71 Dart to a 4 spd., I have all of the wiring and the dash mounted indicator light. Does the wiring for the indicator light run thru the firewall? The wiring has a grommet on it so I assume the firewall had a hole that this would go thru. If so does anyone have any pics. of a factory 4 spd cars firewall showing were the wiring routes and location of hole for grommet?

71 goes through the bulkhead connector... 73 they drilled a hole & used a grommet...

If it was mine, I would go through the bulkhead connector . If memory serves me correctly, the Z port in the wiring diagram.

Different years had different solutions.

Here's whats in the '71 plymouth FSM

^That is power to the lamp

lets look at C

In the engine bay, C holds the next segment of wire B2.
This comes from the switch.
At the connector branch B2A goes to cavity W
Power comes from wire B1 which comes from cavity Z

According to the diagram, grommets are used for the clutch safety switch and the tach.
What you find on a vehicle will confirm this to be correct or not.
