A/C was not available on 4spd cars. So when dealer installed A/C was put in at the dealer the consoles were cut on all 4spd cars. The automatic consoles for A/C cars were made with the front square and shorter. Black plastic only was squared. I have both if pics are needed.

Do you have pictures to prove this? My AC fits fine with my 4sp console.

A/C was available with 4spd in 67-69 A-bodies; 340, 318, 273. And with 4spd console that were available up to 1969. I believe A/C was available with all 70-76 A-bodies that could have 4 speeds also.

Only motors not available with 4 speed and A/C were multiple carb, 440 4bbl, hemi, 383 A-bodies. IIRC, multi carb'd Chrysler letter cars could have A/C too.

Fellow clubmember even has a 69 Dart GT 4 speed, console, A/C 273/318? car.

You may be correct on 67 through 69. But 70 through 76 a-bodies standard shift with A/C were 3 spd. only. No console with a 3 spd. Some one would have to show me a 4 spd. data plate to prove this to me.

This info came right from a friend who owned and still owns a dodge dealer at that time. I will be asking him about the 67-69 A-bodies. It never concerned me about 67-69.

I had a 70 340 Duster which is still next door. 340 3 spd.. I was going to put the A/C in my Demon. and still might. I was going to have a Data plate reproduced adding the A/C on the Demon until I found out they never made one. It would have been one of none as per this person who I had no reason not to believe.

I researched this for a long time and found none made. Maybe this post will prove my friend wrong and open the door for A/C in the Demon???

please chime in if you have a factory 4 spd. ,A/C, a-body 70-76 with a data plate attached. You would make my day.

These are two of many consoles I had and have. The 4 spd. is actually out of a 4 spd.1971 Demon???. Yes it was a Demon. Only ever saw two 4 spd console cars 70-76 and both were 71's . I would not have believed it if I didn't see the factory mounting brackets in the car for myself.

The other console pictured is a auto/console with a 4 spd. top. as you can see the console was not cut off it was molded like that with a short front for A/C

The auto console was crushed by a falling piece of equipment. The 4spd top had a hole poked in it but could be repaired and hidden with care and a new wood grain decal. This is free to anyone who wants it for shipping cost only or call and pick it up.

If you read the dodge and Plymouth dealer ordering books 4 spd and a/c is an available combination. Maybe you don't see them much in your area but in the southwest 4 speed a/c cars in all bodies and years pop up.

Here's a 71 demon with 340 4 spd and a/c. I remember him building and and was surprised he sold it. IIRC, it was a good deal too. Tag info here too:

Here's another:

By the ordering guides, no 4spd and console a-body after 1969 in US/Canada cars. But available in Mexican and South American A-bodies

I do not see 4spd. on the data plate In the links you posted. Like I said there is a Duster here 340 4spd. that I posted But it came with a 3 spd. I have never seen and A-body 70 and up AC 4spd. I would like to see the Data plate. And not a repop like mine would be.

It's mistyped/misread as 021 on that first post. If you read further down someone corrects the mistakes on his tag decode.

These post were moved from another thread that I didn't notice was a forsale theread. I already recieved an address for a shipping quote for the console top plate. Steve

I don't see D21 or E55 on the Data plate . I see H51

If you think it's a fake Demon 340 4spd with a/c that's fine. But I think the evidence in the restoration pictures clearly point to 340 4spd car with a/c. I realize the one picture of the tag cuts off the bottom line with trans and engine info.

Dodge ordering info that only says Hi Perf Axle package and 198 motor is Not Available with Air Conditioning.

Also, the D21 4 speed option is for Demon 340 only and show no other qualifications.

Even in 1974, Dart Sports 360's could have 4spd and A/C.
